Old time Esato reader (well more lurker actually - so old in fact that I'd forgotten my password and original email address so I had to create a new account ) and proud owner of a P900.
Having opted to skip the release of the p910 in favour of its replacement I've been avidly waiting for the for the p990 to finally reach the market place (and yes if I'd have know it would take so long for the 990 to appear I probably would have got the 910 ) and I was a little troubled to read some of the performance issues early adopters were having with memory problems etc. So much so that when Orange offered me the chance of a SPV M3100 (a HTC TyTn) for under £90 I couldn't really say no (especially when I know it will run Tom Tom and other GPS solutions).
It grieves me that SE took so long to get the p990 to the market and that some of the early adopters seem to be having problems because I really wanted to get one. The plan is to keep the TyTn for a year and monitor SE's plans - hopefully they'll have ironed out the all problems with the 990, increased the number of Symbian developers and maybe even announced a successor (maybe a p999 with more memory? ) and I'll be able to return to the fold...
Until then... thanks to all the regulars at Esato whose input, help and suggestions have made my ownership of the p900 such a pleasure over these last 2 years.

well, retailer can instigate the process, if they are want to... but this process is manual process, so, not many retailer willing to do it...
its actually designed to protect the merchant... no merchant is willing to sell something to a customer with low credit limit... because they might not get a payment at all in certain case...
for debit card, most of the issuer bank will not approve this kind of 'pre-authorization' transaction... issuer will simply reject it... (thus, most of the time, debit card cannot be used to pre-order something online or do hotel booking)

@santosoh - Thanks for that information. Stiil seems like a slightly dubious practice - regardless of not actually having been billed the amount, it has still gone from my overall credit limit (or presumably bank balance if it was a debit card), so as far as the customer is concerned the money has been debited.
What happens in the situation with mphone then where you have cancelled an order? Do you have to wait the full week for the pre-authorised funds to be restored or can the retailed instigate the process?

those who want to start do pre-order in Singapore, can do so at Orange Telecom shop (not same as orange UK of course) inside the carrefour hypermart...
they start taking pre-order unlock P990i for S$1,388 (EUR 689 or GBP 464 equivalent), eg. w/o contract. This shop is quite reliable price wise, since they are quite close to SE distribution channel...
hopefully the price can go down sooner ... I certainly cannot afford this price |

hahahah I am touched!....I would like to thank my mum and dad who always beleived in me......
On a more serious note....
Those with P990's is your user manual black and white (front cover, SE logo) and the images in the manual a bit fuzzy? Very unlike SE....especially for their flag ship phone..... |

Number 3 just arrived!
Great build quality, no screen protector (?), snappy responses, great screen, flimsy battery cover, space in the battery compartment for a thicker battery, UK plug supplied (not CST-75), 24 month warranty, English manual, Fun & Download leaflet refers to a P990a (!)
Oraganiser firmware: R2A04
RAM on start-up: 15.6mb
Edit: the manual printing looks rushed, picture quality not great
