Hopefully someone will hack iSync on the Mac soon for the P990i! I wouldn't want to manually enter all 480 contacts that I have...

I see that the P990I is free on Orange 18 month tarrifs which is making me very interested. I know have the choice of K800I, M600I (If it ever get's released on the networks) W950I and the K610I. Choices Choices

And for those that have the P990, how big is it? Is it a brick or is it not too bad?

@santosoh - Thanks for that information. Stiil seems like a slightly dubious practice - regardless of not actually having been billed the amount, it has still gone from my overall credit limit (or presumably bank balance if it was a debit card), so as far as the customer is concerned the money has been debited.

What happens in the situation with mphone then where you have cancelled an order? Do you have to wait the full week for the pre-authorised funds to be restored or can the retailed instigate the process?

Thanks a lot kiriakos, those photos do help, it doesn't look as big as I thought in your hands. I may still wait for the chance to see a dummy one or real one in a phone shop before I make my mind up. I have seen some videos on you tube of the P990I and it seems to be damn quick opening applications and menus, quicker then the M600I videos on there. Isn't the 990 and 600 supposed the share the same processors?

Yet another technical question:

I'd be ready to buy the p990 from Expansys in an instant as long as it is the same phone that is going to be released through SE over the next few months (That is, after having read many posts here, Ive gotten nervous that the P990 that Expansys is selling might not have features like Push email)

Is this true? And if so, will there be updates available that will make the two units indistinguishable?

Thanks again for the advice...

Expansys have not had a special P990 version made for them to sell so don't worry.

From everything said so far it seems that these early P990s were made before the firmware was ready for the features you mention, however a subsequent firmware update will bring them in line with what will come later

This info has been posted here and in the Expansys forums so make of it what you will

As far as i have heard from expansys is that the first p990i units will not support push email capability etc BUT there will be an update which will allow you to install that capability on there. But saying that, the one i have coming to me seems to be a uk spec model...so wont really know till i actually have the unit in my hands physically tommorrow.

Now i dont know if the same applies to all the other p990i's out there in the wide world but i was a bit wary. The way i see it is if there isnt this so-called update then i shall be returning my p990i for one that does have it. As expansys give up to 30 days to request a refund if i remember correctly.

I can just picture it now - 500 to 600 hundered P990s in the Royal Mail and DHL trucks zipping around the country - a bit like Father Christmas - waiting to reach their final destinations by lunch time tomorrow. Okay best a good night sleep so that I can concentrate when the P990 arrives tomorrow - have spare BST-33 from my M600 so no need to wait to charge the battery.

not mine. I'll get mine Wednesday.

Decided not to bother with TCR since 2 of the retailers mentioned here didn't get any stock and most of the street seem to have the same suppliers in my experience.

still couldn't decide today whether I want the P990 so I have until tomorrow morning to decide.

waiting to see some more feedback here...
