@Jits, thanx for that great review, boet. Even though i'm not really much of a camera fan i'd love to see that zoom/save feature incorporated into more handsets since it sounds really useful. The scratch-resistant screen is an excellent idea as well...

Nice cell indeed :-) did you download 1,5mega bit or mega byte in 20sec ? The former is easy achived under 'normal' circumstances the later hmm . . . Not in SA :-( actually not anywhere in the world on the cell' you've mentioned. 1.5 Megabyte in 20 seconds is just over 600kilobit per second without overheads ! ! ! On my 1mbit adsl fixed connection I only manage 850kbit/sec. (about 20% data overhead) .On 3g you get at best 1.5 Megabyte in 40 seconds and then you are lucky. Here in Port Elizabeth I never got better then 1.5 in 50 sec and closer to a min is more usual.Next year when high speed 3g comes out we should see 1.5Megabyte in under 10sec :-) (6-7sec) Your cell must support the new format thou. And non of the major manufacturers plan to release one for now because of the battery performance.3G is already damn heavy on batteries :-( @Brix :-)

With regards to data speed. the phone achieves around 45 kb /s. 1.5 mb takes roughly around 30 to 40 seconds. i timed it this morning. my twenty seconds previously was just an estimate coz i was so amazed at the speed. 3g is a battery drainer tho. it's really an exciting feature to hav. can't wait for successor of the V600i. i want memory card slot, plus QVGA display. W900i looks exciting!!! |

@jitesh: I have to add to the chorus, nice review of the V600. The V600i will be one of the more popular phones this Christmas, IMO it's a better phone than the V800. Way off topic...Have you guys heard this story? The woman that Jacob Zuma supposedly raped is an HIV positive Aids activist...damn how hard is it going to get for him? Either this is a plot or Zuma is one stupid mo'fo. If he did it hope he wore a condom.

Ohh no, that would be bad news for MR JZ, if he didn't use the CD.
Anyway I always had this question regarding rape.
Does the DNA test work if u used a condom?
Anyway this Zuma story is getting way out of hand. I hope it get solved without any riots and troubles in the country. |

I'm not overly concerned with politrix, but i do know that the current Zuma-Thabo situation needs speedy resolution before matters turn nasty. Personally i'd love to see a lady President up next...

@da wanqsta: We're living in interesting times down here. Zuma is supported because his supporters hope to turn back the tide of neo-liberalism in SA. His supporters are for the most part conservative...Once consequence of a Zuma presidency is that we might see the end of the current constitution, a more insular focus, limited civil liberties, the return of the death penalty and land seizures on a mass scale. It should be said that Zuma is being used by communists and trade unionists. |

I second Brix in all his points.A few days ago I've learned by accident what the expression 'coconut' means. Is exclusively used by poor blacks to describe the rich ones.(usually governanent members or with contacts to governanent members) Did any of you new that expression ?

@dr_thug: Tata has got a bad reputation in SA due to problems buyers have had with the Indica...basically ppl have complained about the poor build quality of the car. It's not the most popular car in SA. Seems like the engineers at Tata cut a lot of corners when making the car. Can't tell you much about Mahindra, they've launched a couple of pick-ups/SUV in SA but I haven't seen any on the roads.

I agree with much of what Brix has said, in that the Indica seems to problematic in the Eastern Cape as well. Their heavier vehicles seem to have far fewer problems though, from what i've seen. They're becoming quite a common sight on local roads, and the pickup seems to have found great favour with the construction industry, in particular.
