It is actually a new Sony 24.8 Megapixel, 1/2.3", 1.12 um Exmor RS multi-aspect sensor, with 192 PDAF points and 2-dimensional contrast detection AF. It is almost similar to Omnivision's IS (http://www.ovt.com/products/sensor.php?id=170), but this new addition to Exmor RS for mobile family is different due to the use of multi-aspect sensor. Though it doesn't have an Optical Steadyshot (OIS), as per Engadget, it uses a closed-loop actuator (which probably made by ON Semiconductor: http://www.onsemi.com/PowerSolutions/product.do?id=LC898212XA), which guides the sensor and the lens for a faster AF and better image stabilization.

Well the only way that would work is if the case hooked onto the device via the usb port at the bottom, adding more height to the device. Previous I believe the cover hooked up via the magnetic port, so not going to happen I feel.

Feel it would be best to move all Z5 discussion to their individual threads.

Just a reminder.....

So Z6 at IFA or MWC? Then probably with QHD, SD820, 4GB RAM and a bit different design than Z5.

So Z5 Ultra at MWC? .

Does Z5 Compact have a notification led? Can't see one. Hope the matte plastic feels like the Nokia N9.

No flagship devices at MWC. Next flagships will appear in 2H 2016.

^^ Current built in wireless charging is pretty lame and sony want to keep ignore it for a few reasons:
It is not possible to use the phone or make a call while charging, charging speed is slow and not as fast as qualcomm fast charging and it makes the device a bit thicker. it just does not worth because there are more meaningful features that could make a device better like cooling rig, better front speakers, bigger battery, etc.
I read somewhere that true wireless charging in being worked on by some company and will work like a wifi connection so when you enter the room the device will automatically charge. That is the real thing.

@randomuser
That's a surprise!
so basically you say:
z7, z7 compact, z7 premium - ifa
new z ultra somewhere in q2
?
and i wonder where does the rumored z mini in 4" fits.

So the "waiting game" is over. If you want to buy a new device then you better buy it now. No more bitching.

That is actually a great plan since that gives Sony a perfect opportunity to have more mature hardware than Galaxy 7. So the Z6 will be competing with Note 6 while offering different sizes of their flagship. It's pretty much safe to say Z6 Premium is my next phone.

@Amirprog

For now, the devices are being referred to as "Z6" and not Z7. They won't be launched at IFA though, possibly around June to July timeframe with Snapdragon 820.

They should publish this as an official statement, it would help with sales of the Z5. I was going to wait until February but now I'm leaning into the Z5 Premium Chrome (because all that jazz is how I roll).

On topic:
Are we seeing a new compact tablet and tablet in the next 6 months? I could do with a refresh on my jaded Z2 Tab.

I don't know but i suggest you to read this about the true wireless charging:
Wireless charging from 30 feet away -- does startup have a game-changer?

@randomuser
So are you saying that sony won't show any new smartphone flags at both mwc AND ifa? does it sound realistic to you? that is some radical change in strategy i say! i think it is a welcome one if that is what will make them take a break from half a half a year flag.
