Have you from the start screen pressed the menu button and under Settings/Data sync made a choice in the "Choose sync program" (or what it is called in english) that you want to use Google?

found the fix on Google troubleshooting: you have to delete calendar data (in manage applications) to clear out whatever is in there (even though there were no entries whatsoever!). then it syncs fine, and quickly -- as others said.

BTW: Did you notice that the LED on the top can have different colors? For example with the app "meebo" (I use it for ICQ) when I have incoming messages, the LED is magenta, other colors I noticed: green, yellow, red, not sure about white.

@moogoo debranding means that it removes all the customizations added to the phone(tones, images, icons, etc) and leaving it as it came out of the factory. Unlocking is another different thing

Now I have good battery life. All this while, my GPS is ON all the time and I didn't know that the button between the speaker and bluetooth on the home screen is for GPS. I thought it is the phone/flight mode button as with X1.

by switching off the GPS, the battery life is very reasonable.

for those having battery life problems, let me tell you my experience. i'm not saying that you will all have the same story as mine, but it's worth keeping in mind.

for the first three days or so, i never took my X10 out of the house, for the simple reason that i thought its battery life made it unusable. from midnight to about 7am, i would lose about 25 to 30% just on standby, with wifi and BT off. while i thought it was appalling, i decided to give SE the benefit of the doubt and thought that it was part of the battery break-in process.

after the 4th day, when it seemed like there were no signs of things getting better, i decided to let the battery completely discharge before recharging it. (i usually would recharge at between 10 to 12%) ever since i did that, it has been just fantastic. now, from midnight to 7am, i probably lose about 3% of power, or 5% max. that is with wifi and BT off, but running on 3G. and i can easily get 2 full days on moderate use.

i guess what i'm saying is that the bad battery life seemed to be part of a longer than usual break-in process. improving it had nothing to do with hard reseting the phone, and no extraordinary software management, other than using a task killer to switch off a handful of apps. but the break-in was drastically sped up by doing a full discharge one time only. ever since then, it has been heaven!

so don't lose hope and no need to get hysterical. just give it a shot and see what happens. good luck!

@senninha: this method was mentioned before if I'm not mistaken by some owners before. But I think yours is a bit clearer

just got my x10 today, and all i could say it's a very good device from my P1i. i got a basic bundle with the screen protector and pouch. still getting used with all the functions, but so far it has been intuitive.

has anyone any experience or knowledge on how to transfer SMS from P1i to x10?
and does the phonebook in the x10 don't have options for putting contacts into groups aside from using favorites?

Haven't heard it mentionned yet but what brightness settings are people using?

I've noticed that when reading pdf's on the train, the screen would vary in intensity while it adjusts to ambient levels.

The level of variation is what strikes me also.

I must say the screen is brilliant even in the brightest sunlight - web pages are perfectly readable.

That's a feature that can be turn on and off.

It appears X10 will appear in Korea next month under the name SHW-M100S featuring Android 2.1 + a video call fetaure, exclusively for SK telecom.

Gizmodo has likewise stated they have been told a "big" update is in progress for Q2. Maybe 2.1 is on the way for the rest of the world as well ?

Who knows.

That's interesting.

What features will we gain from the most with this update?

Snip

Indeed, hence why i threw up a suggestion as to another possible reason for the wide variation in battery life between handsets. Unfortunately, i too am suffering poor performance from the battery from something as simple as reading off it during the 40 min train journey to and from work.

Most common problem with battery seem to be all autoumatic update stuff that seem to be turned on.

Yes all disabled in my case with no discernable difference - having to look elsewhere.

On a seperate note: good job all round: SE profits are up which is clearly good news. Now hopefully that will go some way in looking after the X10 crowd
