well somebody asked me this question on my blog on my post about X1's release.

"I you were to buy this phone from UK, when it comes out, and you have AT&T in the US…would this phone work being a UK phone by just putting a sim card in it?"

I think he means if he gets the phone from UK,whether or not this phone will work in US as they have AT&T in US by just inserting the AT&T sim.

Im not sure about this. I think X1 will be available as a stand alone phone and not in contract like the i-phone etc.
Will it be locked?

Any guesses on the price?

In regards to the question about a hardware button to change the screen orientation, checkout this vid at about 16:20!

I´m not sure if it is preconfigured or you can map it yourself... but good to know that there seems to be a dedicated orientation change button!

It does support handwriting recognition.

well I know it does, because all WM touchscreen devices do (and have since early PPC days) but I argued with someone a few pages who claimed that because a marketing website for X1 mentioned an onscreen keyboard but not handwriting recognition, that this means X1 won't have it.

So I offered to start a thread entitled "I am not as smart as a 5th grader" if I was wrong.

That's NOT something I plan to do, and wouldn't make the offer likke that for something I wasn't very sure of.

Well I was in doubt some days ago, but definately I am going to wait for C905... I don't know about XPERIA's stability. I will wait some time to see what people will say about it and how it performs with bugs (if any). Want also to know the same for the C905. And when the prices drop a little, will go for one of those...

I'm on the verge of giving up! I don't want to buy it on Vodafone because of the branding. I can't afford to buy it Sim Free for another few months. O2 told me 6th October, then end of October, end of November, next year. Carphone Warehouse (who also virtually begged me to get the iPhone instead...I don't think so!..) tried to convince me the official release date had been set back, then said that they may get stock tomorrow (think he was just saying that to shut me up at that stage).

Well there won't be much sales today imo. Tommorow should be the hit . The first day, not all phones are ready for sale imo. Btw as mentioned above, no one would also want X1 with voda crap firmware installed... Vodafone ruined soooo many phones...

That's why I stated in the previous post that more storage memory (internal or external) can not make a device faster. But the X1 384MB RAM it indeed, makes it very fast.

Exactly!

Right, but I wouldn't use the word artificial. It is a hardware design decision, based on the amount of resourcess necessary to access a great amount of memory and possibly also based on the technology of current memory devices. For instance: it wouldn't make sense to add the harware/resources in a tight form factor for a a 2 TB device that doesn't exist yet.

Yeah, I do realise that, obviously 2TB is stupid, but if 2TB addressable space is theoretically possible then surely 32GB would be achievable with current hardware.

The limit is artificial in a sense, in that a device can probably handle over 32GB in practice but 2TB is obviously going to be a problem.

btw, "artificial" is Wiki's word.

If I have to choose beween internal 8/16 GB (iphone, Diamond) or external memory, I would pick the external every day of the week. I can have multiple chips and swap them or transfer to other device or laptop.
(It will be better to have both. he he)

I agree.

Unlocking will be by code for this phone , as its a HTC platform.
I bet sony ericsson will not have the dongle unlock method type for this.
Program will be our after a few months maybe, when someone develops it.
Overall unlocking will be cheaper than DB3150 Series.
