Is there still any hope for an Xperia Nexus? When would it be announced?
@randomuser: 7 Million
Edit: Why is there no Xperia Pro in the phone thingy?!

Nice! Glad there's more to this than I originally thought. So yeah I wonder what it means... ceramics? Some other exotic material? Whatever it is, I just hope it's durable enough as I do occasionally drop of phone. My x10a has taken repeated drops like a champ
OOOOOOOOOH! What're the chances that it's transparent aluminum? |

@aurelius
I am not extremely pleased with the decision, but it's for our good apparently. According to K900, Sony is unifying the Xperia Android tree. So this way all phones will have one single code with changes required only for drivers and few other hardware related stuff. This way updates can be pushed out much faster and for a large batch of phones than what Sony is able to now.
On an even more positive note, Sony is finally going to post profits today for the first time this year.

Yeah I saw some articles on that. Hopefully we've seen the last of losing quarters from Sony. Some articles indicated a good portion of the profit may have come from the sale of their chemical business, but who cares... better to be on the plus side than minus. 2013 seems like a great potential year for Sony. With CLED and OLED TV tech, the continued kickassedness of their imaging division, the continued growth of their mobile division and the hope of a PS4, I could wind up going broke spending all my money on Sony products!
And as always, still holding out hope for a Vitaphone! Just got Need for Speed: Most Wanted on my Vita and it's bloody amazing. Would love it on my future phone |

With all this talk about phones, what's the word on future Sony tablets? The Xperia tab is fine and all, but it's hardly leaps and bounds better than the original Tablet S. There were rumours floating about a while ago about another Sony tablet with a higher resolution display... any news on this? Could it be using the 7" ultra high res screen that JDI recently announced, or something larger? I like my Tablet S and all but I wouldn't mind getting something far more badass. |

lol, not even close
I think I posted a list once, but basically I've got:
32" Bravia
40" Bravia
52" Bravia
55" Bravia
15.5" VAIO
2 bluray players
Tablet S
ES Reciever
Sony HTIAB
PS3
PS Vita
Photo frame
Handycam
2 Cybershots
Xperia x10a
3 pairs of Sony headphones ranging from $20 to $400 + the new Playstation headset of course
... and a bunch of other random crap that doesn't immediately come to mind.
BTW, I know it's OT but I just came across and article and am curious. Since Sony and AUO are such good buddies, and since we know Sony wants to push 4k TVs, is it entirely likely that we will see these 4k sets from Sony next year?

Between IGZO, OLED and CLED if Sony pushes all of 'em in their product lineup at once, I think I might have a hard time deciding what to go with. CLED Is still the likely candidate at this point. |

I just had an idea... Sony has their smart watch, right? Why do they not design the next gen version where the band is actually a bunch of segmented lithium ion batteries chained together? Or is that less efficient... or will people get cancer with batteries around their wrists? If it were plausible, I wold think it would be great for providing several times the battery power of the current units. |

Wow ~! We need more people like you to keep Sony in business!
Where's your HMZ-T1 3D googles btw? It's one of the more fascinating Sony "achievements" in recent years!
Cheers

Haha, very similar to what I have in my house minus the amount of TV's. Due to size constraint, only got one 46". As for camera, no cybershot, running their NEX series. And what you say about going broke on spending on SONY product, that is so true. Going to be getting a NEX-6, also the new e-mount lenses that are coming out, and a A99 with a couple of lens that runs in the thousands range.... for cameras. Then going to invest in a pair of MDR-1R for my future Xperia T/TX, when price goes low enough for me justify the purchase compared to the Nexus 4.

I gave serious thought to them, but I decided to hold off. After getting lasik surgery on my eyes a few years back my eyes don't seem to always adjust well to 3D movies, whether it's at a theatre or using the headset. I haven't tried the HMZ-T2 yet, but I have to hope that they're aiming for bigger and better devices soon and that the current HMD are really just prototypes to tide us over until then.
If Sony were to relase a badass virtual reality HMD to go with the PS4, I'm quite sure I'd buy it!
umm... just to add to the above list, 2 Sony USB sticks, 2 Sony battery chargers, a Sony alarm clock with 7" LCD display for pictures, wireless speaker dock, boombox, network media player and a couple of spindles of Sony DVD-Rs |

If they or....any company...could make the HMZ with wireless, comfortable, VR for games (PS4 please!!), 2 simultaneous hmz connections.....for around $500, it will be the biggest thing since "IPhone".
____
Can Sony make a profit already?
Last quarterly report, they were really in the red on all their consumer electronic divisions except Imaging.
Am I missing something?

So guys, how do you like the 'new' Sony? Are you happy with the decisions to postpone JB? Apparently there are betas available but they won't release them like they did with ICS due to new management in Tokyo.
Please, don't make this a war I just want to have your opinion...
I think we can manage with ICS for now.
I think the only reason why sony delayed JB update was that all the sony engineers are working on bringing JB 4.2 in all 2013 phones.i guess thats the only reason sony pushed the JB update.I guess they dont want 2013 phones to have 4.1 during launch but they want it to have 4.2? |
