God, I’m not having much luck with my comp.

I recently got a pioneer dvd rw (dvr-11od me thinks). I put it in and hooked it all up, at first had a few problems but sorted it (jumper was on wrong) and I even successfully updated the drives firmware.. But for some reason I cant burn dvd r’s. It opens audio, data and dvd’s but wont burn to them.

I put a brand new dvd+r in and right clicked on it in my computer and then properties and it say its full? Any ideas why?

Ps they are cheap dvd+r from asda (mr dvd I think) could this be the reason?

@joebmc

What software are you using to burn DVDs? Windows only has built-in support for burning CDs, not DVDs so you have to use a third party application like Nero or Roxio. That's why windows sees a blank DVD as 'full'

@dude

I have absolutely no idea! There's nothing in windows that I know of that will change the screensaver delay time by itself, you got something installed on there maybe?

Ok i am completely cracking up here, as most people will know i am waiting delivery of my macbook pro at the moment so i only have access to my pc to use untill that time. I wanted to add some more songs to my ipod so i connected it thinking it would pop up and say this is not associated with this itunes library bla bla bla, do you wish to associate it with this library. But it didnt?

It says do not disconnect on the ipod display, and sometimes this error will pop up:

windows delayed write file - windows was unable to save all data for the file F: the data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elshwere. OK.

Well there is absolutely nothing wrong with my network connection i can tell you that. Also when i click my computer sometimes a removable drive F: appears but when i try double click or open it comes up as not responding etc etc.

Somehow all my songs have been lost of my ipod even though it is not recognised in itunes, WTF!

The delayed write failure error usually happens when windows (or a program) is trying to write to a device that is dodgy, like a failing hard drive or memory stick.

I doubt very much that your Ipod is on it's way out, so I would suggest that it's a software problem. Try unistalling and reinstalling Itunes (latest version) as that often does the trick.

If it still doesn't work, try plugging the ipod into a different USB port or if you have one, try a different USB cable. If it STILL doesn't work, you may be looking at a dreaded reinstall of the operating system

You may have seen a thread that I started a thread recently asking for help with an ipod nano that windows wouldn't recognise at all, I ended up reinstalling then because all else failed

Hi thanks for the quick response i have already tried uninstalling and then reinstallin itunes and tried every usb port available and still no luck.

I have been dl various music and videos etc etc so would have to back them up first which would take about 200 years.

My pc is running sooooo slow aswell took about 10 minutes to load this page.

ARG!

It is just cracking me up, no wonder i bought a mac is all i will say!

Thanks for the suggestions though.

Is your iPod formatted for Mac or Windows?

If you originally set it up on a Mac then it will be formatted in the Mac disk format, and you'll have to download the iPod Updater for Windows to reformat it to Windows format for it to be recognised by the PC. Then you'll have to copy all your music back... you do have all your music backed-up somewhere other than your iPod don't you??
