I'm surprised how few people there are who makes noice about the new bug in R1AA008...

There's an irritating hissing sound in the ear speaker when talking on the phone. When the volume is turned up (real loud) you can't hear it, but when turning the volume down (half and less) the hissing starts. The lower the volume is set, the more hissing there is. Sometimes there's a ticking sound and sometimes the other persons voice is cut off and you can't hear what he/she is saying.

This bug is almost the same as with T610 a couple of years ago...

I know R1AA008 fixed some bugs, but the introduction of the hissing bug is terrible since talking on the phone is the main feature and (probably for most people) the main reason for buying a phone.

When you install v2.2.10 and run it downloads some update files which i assume take it up to v2.2.11b.

I think you will find that when you have the Play/Pause button set to Radio, it will say that. Switch to Walkman, and you won't get that message......

Menu->Settings->Under General->Play/Pause button.

The music button will be disabled if no handsfree inserted, whether you set it to media player or radio.

No, the play/pause button should work whether you have handsfree or not. Of course it should display that "Insert handsfree" message if the radio is your last used music application, but if it's the Walkman, then it should work.

I have W800 R1AA008, and the play/pause button (with Walkman) works fine without handsfree connected and keypad unlocked. But once I locked the keypad, the "insert handsfree" message pops up.

This is clearly a bug.

@kristianm

This is just my opinion. If you lock your phone, it should be protecting you from accidentally hitting the play/pause button. Therefore, locking that button without the handsfree plugged in is a logical approach. If you have the handsfree plugged it, you are obviously listening to music and you need quick access to the play/pause button. That is why it is activated when you have your handsfree plugged in.

I referred to my K750i w/ R1A044.
Even when i didn't lock the keypad, music button can not be activated unless i insert the handsfree.
I don't know about how W800 handle the button.

No, this is clearly NOT a bug!!!

This feature was also in R1N and I personally find it very handy when listening to MP3's. It prevents accidental operation of non-essential keypad buttons when using the handsfree with the keypad locked (which is a problem I was having with the keypad unlocked.) Now, with the phone locked you can still operate the "play" and "volume" buttons when listening through the headset, but they become locked when the headset is disconnected to prevent accidentally starting your walkman in locked mode.

Hi

Has anybody an HCA-60 with the Stereo Music Mute HCE-26 and also the K750i with R1AA008?
Im just wondering does the music come out through ALL 4 speakers?
In the old firmware, music and voice only came out through front 2 speakers.

Cheers!!

@chowkb, GoodW1ll, and Haribolman,

Sorry about that. My mistake. I now realize it's better that it's disabled when keypad is locked and handsfree is disconnected.

Just spoken to Chris at SE UK (Tel 08705 23 7237). He advises that SE have removed R1AA008 due to some issues/problems with the firmware and that SE should have this fixed shortly/"in a couple of days or so". Chris said once the issue is resolved, the link will reappear under the support section of the website.

Updated the first post to note the 'hissing bug'.

Interesting. I don't suppose anyone has tried a SEUS II update this morning and got R1N rather than R1AA as they expected (taking note of the first post's CDA -> Expected Firmware table)?

I spent some time trying to understand what this hissing is about. It's actually not hissing, but it seems that ear speaker is turning off when no sound at the other end. When one starts to speak, ear speaker turns on and you hear kind a hissing in the begining. If one speaks loudly and without pauses, then it's no problem, because earspeaker is on continuosly. When talking to somebody ask one to whisper and then you will see that either you hear nothing or at best hissing with cut offs.
I believe it's a bug with new FW. If this is true, i would say it's worst bug this phone had ever!

maybe its not worst, but it is annoying as hell. its so annoying and breaking up other's party voice, so you cant have normal conversation anymore! damnit. f**k. and no way to downgrade without paying. sh*t.

temporary solution: it does not appear if you are using headset. at least seemed so.

Updated my 02 UK Branded K750i to R1AA008.

So far I am very pleased with the latest firmware.

Faster navigation, hour glass whilst zooming etc, increased speaker volume.

My K750i is 'not' suffering from any hissing sound on low or high volumes.
