@Sio, interesting mention of Firefly, boet. What's your opinion on how control could be exerted on the current porn-minor issue?
As the father of a 6 year-old i'm rather concerned at where things are heading...

What pisses me off most are the ads for "love poems" and "hot babes" on tv. These ads are clearly aimed at kids...Why would I want a picture of some model on my phone? Some of these services also don't prominently announce that their services are subscriptions and that money gets withdrawn from your airtime each week.

Hey everyone. just my two cents. these advertisements for mms adult pictures should be banned by the sabc during daytime viewing. sabc encourages viewers to complain about unsuitable content. anyway, a little off topic but SE V600 is now free on family top up vodacom contract. k750 is a meager 399 extra and w800 is 899 extra. oh yeah, one more thing...brix, check out 'major carnage 3d' & 'minigolf castles' for ur k700. awesome graphics. cheers |

@jiteshraj: LOL... I've got Major Carnage on my phone and it's nothing to write home about. Minigolf 3D Castles is too tough. My favourite game at the mo is Derek Jeter 2005 Baseball, it's from Gameloft and totally awesome.

Those Gameloft titles are really something else, aren't they... I'm currently playing MI Snooker, highly addictive game from mBounce.

@Kryptik: That game came courtesy of our mutual friend Khaliq's infamous mailing list...each morning I check my email with eager anticipation. For brilliant 3D graphics nothing beats the titles from www.fishlabs.de

@Kryptik: Do you use all the apps posted on that mailing list... Sometimes I feel like getting an S60 phone just so that I can use those .sis files.

@ Brix, i use only a handful of apps, mostly those from Symbianware. As a rule i don't install an app until i've seen some feedback from other users, which is why i like Khaliq's source site so much. Loads of users there, all giving reports on how well new apps function on their phones. Will send you the link so you can have a look...

Checked out the site, have to say it's neat.
Yessterday I managed to open my K700's case using tweezers and a credit card (followed the intstruction posted on www.howardforums.com). I managed to clean the area around the joystick and will later insert a blue transparent plastic to change the colour of the keypad.

@Kryptic
Apologies for the late reply.
As a father myself, i know exactly where you are coming from. It's an unfortunate state of affairs and no mistake.
Other than instating a law, that minors my not use a colour screen mobile(esp w/camera), to avoid things like pornography and similar mms' , i really have no idea on how to stop it.
It is unfortunate that adults get pressured by their kids into getting the best possible mobile when a: it really isn't necessary b: a new one will come out and they will want that and c: it never really solves the problem, just complicates the situation.
It's strange how even as adults we get bullied by kids all over again (kids are cruel).
Imho, put your foot down and just say no. Kids don't need the best. They don't need every toy in the store. I learnt that as a child and benifited from it. It seems no child these days appreciates the value of hard work and earning something. What we want... isn't always what we need.
Kids don't need a colour screen phone. They don't require mms. The phone is there to create contact between child and parent.... if that.
Now... back to pretending I'm working
