I never blamed you in my post I meant you did help him to be able to flash to generic software. Which Bono did mention, and he even thanked you twice actually

What you are trying to do is very obvious, you conveniently dropping my name and rolling eyes says it all. don't you dare try get smart with me.
I sent Bono a guide from an Xperia fan site, maybe he still has the link and told him to get the FW for C6903 (his model), thats the help that I gave him.

If you flashed your Z1 with firmware not coming from Sony's servers then I don't think its fair at all to blame all the crap to Sony. It is not their fault if you flashed something on your phone not coming from their servers. There must be something wrong with the current flashed firmware, or if not the firmware, an installed app etc.

If he flashed a Generic UK firmware, then it must have originated from Sonys servers. It was probably created from the file downloaded by PC Companion and then converted to a flashable FTF file.
I doubt this would be causing his issues

If so then might be an app, or if not then the phone itself, the thing is it happened very suddenly. Anyway not forcing him to keep it if he want to change it for a different phone.

Exactly Lemmy!
It sounds to me like he's got a faulty unit, a hard reset or change of main board by Sony may help. I've been flashing FW since the Symbian days on the N80, I've never had a phone go faulty due to flashing FW, but rather, had the FW itself being buggy no matter how the update was done or had the phone develop a fault due to bad hardware.

@Lemmy Not saying this is the cause of Bonovox's problem, but whenever one flashes with a firmware not from an official source using a non official method, one just have to take the risk and assume all responsibility of the end result. And no, pulling an image off a device or using some hacked method of getting it off a official download source, in this case through PC Companion like you mention, does not count as official. Also, getting it from an official source and updating it through an official method also carries a "very very small" risk. A couple of bytes of corruption during the download and/or install process can cause tons of problems. |

I think Z1 support 64 GB officially, so it should work with all kinds. |

@rency0722 I would assume yes because I'm currently using the extreme 64gb right now.

@MNX1024
These firmwares are converted from original Sony supplied updates that have been downloaded by Sony supplied software (eg PCC and SEUS)from Sony servers, I don't understand how they can be classed as unofficial. Either way Bono has a lot of issues that I never experienced and I flashed mine with Generic firmware also. The Z1 is a good phone with an average camera and poor screen. Like I said I have traded my Z1 for a Z Ultra and am very content at the moment........although the viewing angles on the Ultra screen are not that special either.

Well if that's the case, were glad to be part of the Z1's ups and downs and you're always welcome at the So y Xperia community soon. Maybe the next flagship is part of yours. Peace out and goodluck with your next phone.
@ MNX: alright, how about the format, exFat or FAT32? And is UHS-1 compatible for XZ1? M gonna buy tomorrow, so its gonna be a day earlier! Yey! |

wow! i wake up to a lot of posts..
@bono - sorry to hear you go after how much you absolutely praised the phone when you first got it. But I can understand your frustration. If i was having the problems you were then the fact that I loved it so much would make my frustrations that much worse. I hope you give it one last shot by using the repair clean flash through PC Companion (not factory/master reset). Flashing on your own always has a chance of something going wrong. A corrupt image file, something weird happen during the procedure that you just don't know, etc. For someone who seemed to really love the Z1 when you got it, I'm surprised you're not giving it at LEAST that one last chance using the official repair. I know I would.
@tsepz - give it a rest. no one blamed you. reeflotz gave a thorough post. Just cause someone mentions your name doesn't mean they are attacking you. defensive much?
@rency - i have 64gb sandisk ultra in mine and it works fine. i think i formatted it as fat32, but i can't remember. i may have just used it straight out of the box tbh. honestly can't recall. but it is supported.

@lemmy31 I either do it at Carphone store or Recycling comparison site. MPC Recycling though offer only £278 but Carphone is less.
