I agree, the W810 gave you better details.. as for sharpness, a few things.. the first, the picture seemed a bit overexposed, you might want to try an EV adjusment of -0.3 and see if that helps. Also, if you're using a W810, try using a sharpness of 6 and it should be a bit better for you.
this picture comparison makes me think the nokia is using some bad sharpening filter in its processing that gives a sharper image, but at the expense of picture details..

The pics of nokia are very sharp but not real colour. Sarmad 5.7 are good colour but not so sharp :| .

Also notice the wavy tin roof. You can't even see the waves in the nokia pic.

ok, I understand what you say w810i have better details, but look at this 2 pics what heapens when I take a zoom in pics
In nokia pictures you can't see the pixels, is using some filtering, that is why ==> shap pictures (my opinion).
sorry for my english

Good evening, I would to ask, if it is possible, to make version of easy editable 21.91 kriomags (i think, upgraded by raiderski) without spot? It could be very comfortable:) Thx
Nowadays, I'm enjoying Elm, fw R7BA076. And here camdriver database for k750/w800/w810: www.camdrivers.wz.cz |

I know how to avoid crashes, but there is another problem... jpeg encoder has something like a "fallback mode"... if the image is too simple (only extremally overexposed, not black (even totally black)) it sets compression quality to the initial value which is a very low in case of variable quality. I don't know yet how to turn this mode off.
If there is no way to turn this mode off we can:
1. accept this behaviour as is
2. introduce in driver a classic mode in addition to the "dynamic" mode.

i found this also and something else during few experiments trying to make very bright picture.
1.
#JMIN(00,96) #JAVG(01,90) #JMAX(02,4A)
never cause crash but will save at 75% (size ~240kb)
2.
#JMIN(01,90) #JAVG(01,F4) #JMAX(02,4A)
often cause crash but will save at 96% (size ~514kb)
this sucks because of 07 02 00 13 4B 5A 5A #END; for both
quick conclusion... encoder don't understand what "maximum" mean :/

Today i repeatedly got a 100% quality on simple scenes (and no crashes), but a little growth of exposure time and quality falls to the minimum value =(
I can say only one thing. This totally overexposed scenes (with very big white areas without noise at all) are very synthetic and useless! You can't get this without manual shutter speed. Even physically overexposed scenes (like a very close to the camera unfocused white paper with LED flash and EV +2.0) can't cause the above fall of quality. This is because some noise (very low) is still present in the picture due to fast shutter speed.

@Aur3lian ..
the nokia pic is blurred and smeared.. just look at the tree leaves, it's all blurred together.. but with the w810, you can still see the higher level of detail.. looks like the nokia is indeed using some nasty filters that do nothing but destroy the original image.. not good in my opinion..
@kroukes2000: as for that green image, thats very weird, i was not able to reproduce it using night shots.. i tried in different areas with varying light levels, but couldn't get that green effect... so i'm not sure how i can solve a problem that i cant see for myself..
what phone and firmware are you using?

now i see fix for crash when image is too bright. answer is inside driver code. probably you know this already but i put code for anyone interested:
SET_JPEG_QUALITY=
$p1 0e
$c1 01 // flash accessory connected (we can have very bright picture)
$s2 32 // compresion = 50%
#SET_JPEG_MIN(00,01) // minimal size = 1kb
$cx
07 02 00 13 $w2 $w2 $w2 #CMD_END;
jpeg compress bright areas very poor - that's explain why SE dudes create this part of code

@kroukes2000
can u reproduce back the pix with auto white balance instead of flourescent.
i think u have done some editing in the firmware by changing your model name with kroukes or u have edited the exif file from ur pix.
cheerz..
