Sony mobile phones this year, so what new features black technology, other manufacturers will carry forward next year

This sentence doesn't make any sense.
In fact the way its phrased makes it seem like a question.
Why did you post this? What is the point of you?
It does make sense if you translate it back to Chinese. It said that the new phones will feature unique technology that will not be given to other manufacturers until later.
Sony could be one of the first OEM's that get 5G modem and S855 SoC, since Sony is heavily betting their smartphone strategy on 5G. I am really looking forward to 4K Premium with S855! |

Depends on many things..
Some of their sensor are made for cars and security.
Amount of power it requires to work.
Bigger sensors are more expensive.
There is also design issues. People want something that looks good or just regular.
Those Nokia were pretty ugly.
Ask to any photographer, they will tell you pixel size is not as important as tech sites want you to believe.
HTC 10, Hyc U Ultra and Pixel 2016 all had 12MP/1.55 ( 7.81mm) = like 2nd cam of XZ2P
U11 and Pixel 2 have 12MP/1.4 ( 7.06mm) = both use same sensor
There is an old imx204 .. Nobody used it I think.
20MP , 1/1.7" , 1.43 micron
EDIT: about the FCC ID I left here yesterday. Does any one know if they are XZ3, XA2+ , R2 or something else?

Just noticed, not first time, that in some situations XZ2 is overexposing sky.
Something previous phones did not do.
I dont know if the photos were taken before it could recognise as backlit scene or HDR is not working well.

I have to wonder why Sony isn't using this sensor for its smartphones. Its big 1/1.1 with 12M pixels and has GLOBAL SHUTTER. Its neither EXMOR R or EXMOR RS, so is that the reason? Cause otherwise this thing would basically be unmatched for video.
12MPx Global Shutter sensor...That's unreal
If not the primary photography sensor, you could have it as the secondary (or Huawei style tertiary sensor) that's dedicated to video.
According to the site this sensor is meant for industrial work. the global shutter is a must for some industrial applications like for example monitoring visual quality in a fast production line where the camera can snap a picture for each product while the whole production line is moving quickly
And like what Moe87 said, sensors comes with different features, specifications, requirements, working conditions, abilities to match a specific type of work.
While Global Shutter Sensors is perfect for video, but AFAIK global shutter sensors also requires more power to operate & more expensive to make and to make them work.. so not the best choice for a smartphone.

^ Yes, but I'm impressed at how good XZ2 stacks up against its competitions (S9+, P20/P20 Pro). XZ2 pictures are very sharp (which is important to me) with natural colours. Although its dynamic range could be improved as it is bad (software issue, maybe?)
I'll get my hands on my XZ2 next week. Fingers crossed...

A lot of my friends ( both real life and online forum etc) really like XZ2 compact but no Volte support is stopping them from buying it. I really can't come up with any argument honestly most cheap unlocked phones support Volte. |

When you take a photo and it is close to what your eyes see then tech sites say DR is not that wide.
Dont worry. Tech sites love screens and photos with tons of vibration/saturation.
According to what I read around the screen of XZ2 seems to be best LCD ever made.

XZ2c do support VoLTE on Verizon...Just like its predecessor, Z3v and ill-fated Z4v (Aoi)

I should have mentioned T-mobile Volte. Yeah I know it supports verizon but still many people are having problems activating it. Check xda thread for more info
https://forum.xda-developers.[....]p/using-verizon-t3777301/page7
Still I'm glad to see steps in right direction.partial support is better than none at all.
Off topic: I know it might be a vain effort but I'm trying my best to get my friends interested in Xperias. I know in large scale it won't affect Sony mobile at all but I like to think I do my part as a fan in my free time.

Compact series is ill-fated products, no matter how good people say about it.
Sales often end up stark contrast, only advantage maybe about carry heavyweight chipset
but material and support solution (VoLTE / Wi-Fi Calling with local operators) now seem out of reach.
----------------
For the first time, Sony didn't officially bring compact family to sales in my country
but XZ2 has fairly well receives apart of some voice project to criticize the new design which now smaller and smaller.
(oh well, it's not me. now I'm neutral to new design)

keep it up Jo, I used to did some but they usually fell for competitors device due to advertise and discount promotion.
Also about display protection, my XZ didn't have any film / glass since Dec'16
and it has only very tiny hairline scratch that did not notice with normal use, only under light reflection.
Actually, I can't find good film / glass before I got that tiny hairline scratch.
Bundle film in box just ruin touch experience.

PY7 68553C, PY7-34118S and PY7-70663E, they all have no headphone jack. But PY7-70663E has SIM slot on side while other two have them on top. |
