SONY XPERIA Rumors 2014 |

Its still possible that the leaks are of a previous prototype or an Asian variant (denoted by an L5x ID, rather than a D6xxx). However, I'm not holding out too much hope.
The idea of a design which looks like one solid block of glass sounds extremely awesome though. Shame that it wasn't possible for the Z3. Maybe next time.

That kind of design is years away. It's like with car concepts, MB, BMW etc show you a concept at a show, and you love it, but then you see the production model and it's the same old shit that looks nothing like the original idea
the pic that I posted is from a Sony Bravia XBR10 here all encased in glass and that was manufactured in 2009, they've been taking cues from their TV's design before and even those past leaks from the supposed Z3 remind me the edge of a Sony HX855 here that was released in 2012 if I recall correctly

All glass design seems interesting, sadly I would not call practical unless it has some very strong protecting features, I'm not talking about tempered glass or gorilla or dragon-trail... Apple's move to Sapphire Glass seems the solution for such a design...
But I think I saw something about a patent regarding using sapphire glass in a phone...
EDIT :
NM,
Apple Reveals Radical All-Glass iPhone Design In Patent Filing (‘Fused glass device housings’)
heck, the patent says a 'device' rather than a mobile phone or mobile device.. so it could be anything from iPhone to iMac...
The patent is new, very new... only less than a week old ( 8 July 2014 )... but If Sony already made some devices with that concept before, they're in the safe side... thought Apple never sued Sony before ( they have some respect to each other + Sony has a hell of patents to sue Apple )
But if any one of these companies started the trend of a mobile device, then the other might be in a hard situation to do the same.. every body will say the second is copying the first.. even if Sony made the first actual product years ago...
I know I know, there was some rumours that Bill Gates fall in love with Sony designs that he evens tried to have Sony built Mac OS X laptops.. but Sony didn't seems to be interested at that time... if Apple will license Mac OS X or iOS to Sony, a lot of peoples will choose Sony because they're more free regarding spec. than Apple... unless Apple made very large restrictions in design and features.. but I think Apple is very very far away from licensing to any other maker... they want all the profit to them selfs

it wasnt a rumor, it was true, because Win 7 seems to have taken off, or will at the time. Sony decided not to bet on Mac OS. To be honest, it wouldn't have changed anything for VIAO PC, most people that buy Apple stuffs only know about the brand. Sony has always been leading the industrial design which is what Steven Job admire for a the longest time. Even the iconic iphone 4 design came from someone from Sony. Here a image that was released by Apple during the lawsuits with Samsung

Enough Z3 leaks. It's now time for Z3 Compact leaks. So far 2 trusted sources have different information about screen size/resolution and RAM. 4.5" 720p 2GB vs. 4.6" 1080p 3GB. The latter specs sounds more worthy of a successor, but since we were talking about a company releasing the A2 (plastic back Z1C) almost 1 year after the Z1-f everything is possible. |

Now that's a good thing! Especially to frequent travelers like I. Do hope that they keep this for Z4, as I would not be purchasing the Z3. Now I'm seriously interested in what other additions they are putting into the Z3. |

Interesting information.
I was hoping my Z1 would last me at least 4 years before I upgraded considering how much I spent (i'm not made of money sadly ). it hasn't even been a year yet and there's all this information on a Z3.. crazy. I haven't really been keeping track of rumors lately but from the leaks I've seen, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of making me really consider an early upgrade. I would have liked to see a different design, but I guess they are sticking with what works. Improvements to the camera would have been welcome too, though I believe their efforts should be put more into the software side than anything.
Look forward to seeing what Z3 will offer, but so far, I'm not ready to give up my Z1 just yet.
