Doc,
yes we agree, safety should be the first point to check while in the range. we all have to be aware of it. and i understand your sentiments regarding inexperienced shooters inside a range. i have also seen those situations. a group of taiwanese tourists, posing for pictures, finger on the trigger, just like movie posters. and another group of japanese, with their equally ignorant japayuki escorts, same problem: fingers on the trigger, and this time the barrel is pointing at the person next to them. makes you cringe. then... G17's story about the neophyte security-guards' training time... a range officer's nightmare!
now that you have the Canon, i believe it's time for uploading new pictures! we'll wait for that, Doc.

G17,
middle of this year the new models of XDAs and iPAQs will arrive. I'm now very anxious for them. let's meet, i'll show you pictures/specs of those. naiinggit na nga ako sa iyo, that you're able to surf and e-mail (not via GPRS) mobile.

Here's one taken with the 20D of a 16 month old GSD that I bought a week ago as a replacement for one that died a few months ago. Their intelligence, confidence, heft and loud booming bark makes them an ideal guard dog

angel: u may try Tough Guys in Cubao.
boysaint: We couldnt shoot that huge buck . . . deerhunting season is over. We dont want to pay the fine. The coyotes on the other hand are so difficult to track. They move fast and they mostly come out only at night. Good thing the 10mm Kimber and the HK 0.45USP are great target guns. We could at least bring home nicely drilled target papers.

boysaint: Huge sale on Circuit City, St. Louis, Mo. and on Gateway, Illinois. iPaqs aren't included in the sale? . . . and no Moto Razors? I dont care much about the Nokias on the list. What about a 5 megapixel Leica? Or a 4 mpixel 10x optical zoom Fuji S5100? boysaint: better get down from that tree-stand.

Hi to everyone,
I saw this thread as I was browsing for a Filipino Gun Forum and your discussion is both fascinating and enlightening. I'm usually into pocket pistols unlike most of you who are into the bigger caliber guns, since they are easily concealable which I think is important because of the "whimsical changing of rules at the middle of the ballgame" mindset of our gov't. I have a .380 Beretta Cheetah , Colt M1903 .380, and Browning 1922 .380. All having the minimum req't caliber , just have to make up by using Federal HP's for carry. I usually have a Ptc for one of these but now only have a PTT for the Cheetah.
Recently I was offered a subgun by a fellow gunclub member. Can I register the subgun by availing of the "amnesty" offered by our fickle-minded authorities?

Welcome to the forum. Nice collection of pocket autos you have there. All certified classics.
Regarding the subgun, yes, you can avail of the amnesty and have it registered but with our whimsical gun laws, you do run the risk of confiscation when the tide changes. Its up to you

Thanks Doc, the paranoia about gun confiscation still prevails since we don't have that amendment in our constitution but only a so-called "privilege". Hope things change so we could get out of this gray area. I still went through the deal this morning and am now a proud papa of the sub. Now I'm busy registering it via the Gun Amnesty at Camp Crame. I read last night the book " Weapons of the Navy SEALS" by Kevin Dockery and the sub was the weapon of choice by SEALS operators before the advent of the very popular HK series of subguns. It really increased my enthusiasm upon learning that only 6000 were ever made by S&W. By the way what do you know about the legality of owning a sound suppressor for us "law abiding citezens" ?

Tried out my new acquisition and it seems the seller was correct that it's not very reliable using reloads, I think the bolt is heavy for the reloads because upon using factory FMJs it digested everything without a hitch. My gunsmith agreed with the seller because despite all the tweaking he did, it would not reliably digest reloads, resulting in double feeds in semi mode. Fellow gunclub members suggested using 9mm Para but they said it's hard to come by. By the way what's the diff between 9mmLuger and 9mmPara? The" Encylopedia of Pistols and Revolvers" by A. E. Hartink classified them together with the 9 x 19mm as one. I was reading some of the previews posts and I noticed the German Shepherd, very regal looking, I plan on acquiring one; right now I own a pair of Labradors.

Sound suppresors are indeed illegal here although I know of a lot who use it for silent target practice at their backyards and for your purposes of varmint disposal as long as you're sure of your backstop, I think that's better than scaring the beejezuz out of your neighbors every time you pop one off . The 9mm para,9mm luger and 9x19 are the same cartridges as far as I recall. Subguns have to be powered by full loads(which is how factory ammo is loaded) powder puff reloads won't do. I'm sure you can get by with reloads loaded to full power factor levels as long as you use FMJ for heads to avoid fouling your barrel and gas system. Using lead heads will also increase wear on your bolt as it goes back faster with lead heads. Be sure to use once fired cases only as you wouldn't want a Kaboom happening to your new baby. Congrats on your acquisition. Since your looking for a filipino gun forum, drop by Band of Glockers at GT, you'll find a lot of gun enthusiasts there( of every type, not just glocks). Here's the link http://www.glocktalk.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=80. Happy Shooting

My Shepherd is presently afflicted with mange and I'm having a hard time controlling it. There seems to be an epidemic here as most of the neighbor's dogs have it too

Doc,
Thanks, that's exactly the sentiment why I want to use a sound suppressor, to be discreet... And yes sir a proper backstop is one of the foremost consideration when it comes to discharging a firearm. So far I haven't experienced a single hiccup with the sub when using factory ammo and I'm considering to learn how to reload my ammo using my dad's reloading machine. I've also visited BOG and have learned a lot from the experience.
We've had an experience with mange mites when one of my dad's dobe was afflicked. Upon diagnosis the dog was given Ectodexx which was applied to the area affected. You just have to control the dog so that it would avoid licking the treated part. It was successfully treated. Camrosa (British drug) can also be used.
