What's the play like to use as a regular everyday phone? |

Despite the Play's chubbyness i dig its design, reminds a bit of the K850s design, wonder if the PLAY2 is a possibility? Think i'd get that.
I remember loving Bruce Lee's ONE on my N81 aka Ngage2 phone, reminded me of the PS game Tekken, and that was on a 369mhz CPU now 3yrld Symbian S60v3 phone with no GPU, it must be A LOT better on the PLAY.

Same experience as all of the 2011 candy bar Xperias, slightly darker screen but in no way unusable - optimised for gaming so great battery life, but since the 2.3.3 update they all have fantastic battery life I guess and lightening quick UI when managed well.
+HD Voice
+HD Recording
+Stereo speakers - REALLY loud!
+3G Video calling on googletalk and skype on the way with 2.3.4
+Chubbier, but you can't really expect them to fit the great gamepad controls in a sub-10mm frame, at it's widest point it is thicker but it's perfectly easy to fit in your pocket - no sharp edges / corners and perfectly ergonomic.
The orange version will be here before the end of the year.

It's all good as I have BIG hands anyway. I am not a fan of skinny fragile phones. I like something I can feel like a curvy ass From what I seen of the screen in stores I turned on full brightness & it ain't that dull. The Neo is about the same too slightly darker than the Arc. I am rather excited getting mine via special delivery tomorrow before 1PM All shiny & new out the box it's like Christmas

Personally, there was not that much difference between the Arc and X10, which I was upgrading from.
Desire HD, Samsung GS II, are all minor upgrades really, and people spend hours bitching over what are really very 'minor' upgrades in screen size and a few micro-seconds in OS speed which in real life make no difference whatsoever.
The Play does what the best phones can do with an EXTRA gaming dimension, and believe you me, those gaming controls add so much more entertainment.

I haven't had any issues with the games so far, a 1Ghz processor is quite enough - well optimised for what is currently available, 60fps.
When the X10 was announced people were also moaning it would be crippled without multi-touch but did it actually make that much difference? I don't remember shedloads of multi-touch apps appearing, enough to give it a serious disadvantage.
The very vast majority of games for the Play run without a hitch. It would be great if Sony gained enough public support to encourage them to bring out a Play II, and if so, that will definitely be something to look forward to.
The Play will never compete against the Vita, as much as the C905 can hardly hope to replace a dedicated Cyber-Shot, but it's a great start IMO.
