There are genuine covers on ebay.co.uk now. I think they were yellow, silver and red. No doubt more will arrive soon. I like the idea of a white one.  |

any word on when we might start seeing unlocked versions of the e10a and e10a pro? i'd love to get my hands on a pro-version with us 3g specifically for ATT

Hi guys,
First of all, maybe this is my first message on this forum, so hello everyone.
From the first time i saw the x10 mini / pro i knew it would be my next phone, and now i own a C905 with a better camera... But i don't like phones that look like bricks so i want this phone, the problem is that i have some doubts that, i hope someone can solve...
I like X10 mini because is very small, but doesn't have qwerty keyboard and the battery is built in. The battery is not a big deal because changing the battery is not something usual, besides, someday there will be a wonderful tutorial about changing the battery removing a couple of screws.
The big problem is: Has someone used some virtual qwerty on X10 and confirm it is more or less confortable? In this case, i would buy X10 mini. I am afraid of buying X10 mini pro and having a qwerty physical keyboard i never use.
About the screen, i saw somewhere that the X10 mini's screen manufacturer is different from the x10 mini pro's. Are there differences between these screens? I know the resolution is the same, but is the size the same?
I hope someone can answer these questions because i really love this model and i'd like to purchase one.

Xperia X10 Mini and Mini Pro is completely identical specifications, except for one small detail: X10 Mini Pro has been physical qwerty keyboard. This means that it weighs 32 grams more, and measure a few millimeters extra in all directions. |

Mano82, thanks for your quick reply, this is usefull info.
However i'd still like to know if someone has tried using some virtual keyboard on screen on X10 mini... If someone tells me that it is confortable to write using some app with virtual qwerty, i'm pretty sure i will buy x10 mini, it's so small and it hust weights 88 grams! |

I should get mine tomorow and will try and answer your question when I get it however I wasn't planning on using an onscreen qwerty due to the small screen size. If you have come from a phone with a numeric keypad(like the C905 i believe) typing should be quite easy to get a hold of- the buttons on the screen are actually bigger than the buttons on most keypads and the screen is nice and responsive although of course you will never be quite as fast on a touchscreen compared to real buttons.

Maybe i ask too much but this will represent the change from my C905 to an android device, and, as i want to avoid having physical buttons, i want to be sure of X10 mini's possibilities. If you could try installing some app that comes with a virtual keyboard (someone mentioned one on the must-have apps for x10 mini) and try to type something it would be great...

No problem chamanx, I had the same dilemma too when trying to decide but after trying out the X10 mini I thought it would be enough for me.
Is there any keyboard app in particular you want me to try? |

Mmmmm if you don't mind, hancent keyboard has been mentioned, so it would be a good example. Maybe i am asking too much, but posting a pic would be great, to see how it fits.

I know I've already mentionned, but "anysoft keyboard" is really good (I precise that I don't personnaly know the developper and have no interest about this app). Touch size are bigger than slide it on our mini and appearance is most beautiful. You can use in horizontal and vertical and works with handcent sms to horizontal position.

I tried several Qwerty Keyboards the last few days:
- SmartKeyboard
- ThickButtons
- AnySoft Keyboard
With all of them it's quite ok to write. But as I'm coming from a T9 phone as well (W890i) right now I found it more convenient for me to stay with the built in T9.
ThickButtons is especially interesting, as it increases the size of those buttons most likely to be pressed next. It does that by using a dictionary. When I have more time I will get the proper dictionaries and try again.
The screen size is small, and in portrait mode it's almost impossible to use qwerty. But in landscape all 3 work very decent. Maybe I need just some time to get used to it.
But actually the original T9 is really, really good, so I don't feel the need to use a qwerty any more. |

Thank you guys for these comments on the qwerty keyboards, i think i will definitely buy the x10 mini (not the pro) because of the size and because it doesn't have physical keys.
