well, each to their own of course but that has to be the first time I have seen a device ruled out just because of the stylus!

I admit, it seems a bit strange, but I found the 9100's stylus a pain to work with and have seen quite a few broken ones.
Plus, why position it in the bottom of the device?
My foremost problem with the 9100 and therefor with the Tytn is the lack of a real phone keyboard. One-handed dialing and SMS-ing just isn't so easy on a virtual keyboard. |

now I'm dissapointed. My second TyTN has a really bad keyboard where the space and delete keys hardly work and several other keys don't work all the time.
I cannot understand how they can be so faulty and how Expansys can keep selling them without testing them first.
Whats more it costs me to send it back!, a little over £7 each time.
so... I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place and despite 2 or 3 restarts a day the P990 seems to be currently more usable than the TyTN... I'm now wondering if I will get another or maybe wait for the i-mate JasJam version in the hope they have better quality control as has been the case in the past

@masseur
I thought i had a perfect second device. I have just discovered that the 'M' key on the keypad is not responding as well as other keys.
Not as big an issue as the one you are reporting but nevertheless a problem..
It is difficult for me to retutn this as my argument will not be as convincing, so I will hang on to it. I am getting more and more hooked on using the P990 anyway and hope it will be even better with the next FW update..
Sorry your second one turned out to be so bad.. |

yeah, big dissapointment
I've typed "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" 20 times in a row at varying speed including one character at a time watching every letter I press and not once did it come out right!
I'll get a refund from Expansys and go down Tottenham Road tomorrow and keep trying units until I get one that is perfect, assuming such a beast exists at this time!

I never remember previous imate or Qtek products being reported as having such serious hardware problems..
HTC are leaving a bad first impression..This is serious stuff and the competition is very tough...
Good luck with your search anyway.. |

I was under the impression HTC would no longer release any products under the Qtek-brand?
The Tytn and P990 are about equal in size, right? |

@timstr
It appears that HTC may have made a u turn and will now supply imate with the jasjam, their TyTN equivalent..It will be interesting to see how all this develops.. |

K700 and K750 are very small compared to both these devices.. |

the top phone is a K800 so that should give a good idea of K700/K750 comparison. Unfortunately I don't have a K700 or K750 with me right now.
btw, this latest TyTN, like the first, was a HTC630 serial so its clear that even this has issues
I'll be calling HTC tomorrow to see what they have to say about it all and if there is a new serial to watch out for that has this corrected

@masseur
received my Orange SPV M3100 and the SN is HT631. Screen is much better than the two Vodas I had and the keyboard is also better (better key feedback). But need to do some work (well need to do work for my clients at some point ) now but hopefully will spend more time at the weekend playing with it. Will check all the keys on keyboard as well!

well its good to see that there is now a later batch but don't expect to see me with an orange branded one anytime soon (or ever in fact!)
give the keys a good workout pressing multiple times quickly and ensuring that each press is registered
I feel like I'm at a bit of a loss really at the moment 'coz I really thought this replacement would be IT! since the first one had no keyboard problems at all
