Hi themarques

I posted a few pages back here about language packs.

Do you know what is available? Can I put Japanese input for email on a M600, W950 or P990?

MobileBear,

Could you comment on the M600 as a phone...how is the reception, voice quality, and sound. I am using an S700 and there are times where I wish it just had a little more volume.

Also, does the OS have an unlimited call history of received, missed, and dialed?

Thank you.

Hi Ofiaich

I have not seen any language packs at this moment, let me email my self and see if it can read any Characters. If you find any language files and want me to install and try it give me a shout.

cheers,
Suv

It got from a shop called Promise Communications in Sin Tat Plaza, Mongkok. Theres only a few shops that have it. Price is the same for both black and white. My model is M600i, the back sticker in the battery compartment says approved for use in Singapore, I am sure its the retail version. Updated the firmware to CXC 162037 R1B01 today. Appears to be working fine. I have experienced no crash yet. Email working well. I delighted with it so far.

Ok push email is different from connecting to your ISP for your mail. You will need someone else to push the mail from your host account. This company does it pretty well but its an added expense.

http://www.4smartphone.net/Default.aspx

So upon registering with them, you will have to forward your email from pipex (if they have an option to forward email and still leave it on the server for you to retrieve when you get home that will be excellent.) If not fear not I was in the same position but found a work around.

I forwarded my email from plus.net to gmail and gmail forwards a copy to 4smartphone as soon as it arrives and also keeps a copy on the server so when I log into outlook at home I am able to retrieve the same email.

Another option but this defeats the purpose of push email is to have 4smartphone pole your mail ( but this has a 15-20 minute delay). I would say no point paying for that as you can set your email client to pole every 15 minutes anyway.

If you need anymore help then drop a line.

thanks themarques,

Could you see anything? It defeats the object if I just buy a M600 etc, and pair it with a Palm Pda.... and my old Tungsten T3 is slowing giving up!!

I will look for language packs too. I have zero knowledge about Symbian!

@ofiaich No it came back all gubbled up text sadly...so no luck there. If I do come across the language file I will surely install it and give you a shout.

I do have my doubts that they will have a language file in Japanese (remember ala V800i JP Edition) Lets keep our fingers crossed Softbank take this one over to there shoares ( very unlikely now that Voda is gone)

Thanks themarques!

It is a pity that S-E or Sharp etc can't release one premium handset for outside of Japan with full Japanese input.

My 902 is ok for reading.... but input involves a long winded method using templates......

Hmmm... I will keep researching, and also check out the Windows based mobiles...

pm for you, so ths thread stays on song!

@2thdr

Actually, I canīt answer none of your questions. I wrote erlier that my M600 lost contact with the net all the time, and often I canīt make calls at all! Iīm very disapointed.

Right now Iīm trying my old Vodafone/Telenor SIM-card, and for the 5 minutes I have tested it, it keeps the contact with the net, so probably its my usual Tele2Comviq SIM-card thatīs the problem.

Sorry, but someone else have to help you.

_________________________________________________________
My M600 screen lookes weird when I make a call, itīs like itīs "flimmer", (thatīs not the right word, in swedish itīs "flimmra". Like an old TV that is on 50 Hz. Not like a normal LCD screen. But only when I make a call.

Have you guys seen this before?

The reception is pretty good for me, I have a very strong signal on both 3G and 2G. The sound is pretty good on calls, I think the EFR kicks in quite well if your network supports it. I havent been in a situation that I felt I required more volume but then that might just be me and my sensitive ears.

So far the call history in my phone dates back to the 20/05 and thats around the time I got it plus I did a hard reset it so it looks like the history is close to unlimited.

Hope that has answered most of your questions (ps I am using the early software R1A and it seems ok.

For those that managed to flash to the new firmware any chance of supplying us with your CDA version and just the first 4 numbers from your imei. I am just trying to rule out whats happening with mine.

Ideally those that had the pre release version with SonyEricsson written on it not M600i
