Hi guys,
Is Xperia Z1 UHS-1 compatible? I'm seeing some threads that it should be compatible to have the comparative R/W speed of the memory card. |

since the Z1 is now available in the US (albeit HSPA+ version unlocked only) and there is no content promo along with it.. i guess it's safe to say US users won't get the free movies or music unlimited trial without doing some clever resetting.
shame. i mean the movies aren't that big of a deal, but i like free things

I was in London this weekend and took some quick snapshots during the day and night(!). All pics were shot without using a tripod or whatsoever and I might had some (or more ) beers at the time i took those night shots... so please be gentle !
All shots are straight from the Z1 and are located at the esato photo section.

Now it's just the question how much the beer influenced the quality of the photos...
Great shots! |

@Hatseflats Your Z1 is in an old firmware, isn't it? Too much processing, it could had been really good.

@Hatseflats, I really hope those are from the old firmware, cus those horrible artifacts has been significantly reduced from the shots I took with the new firmware.
@miki, not sure how reliable that site is, but if that is true I hope it doesn't mean Z1 and ZU owners have to wait for too long. Make sense though since they probably working with S4 pro drivers for a while with 4.3 and starts with S800 on 4.4? Still not sure how android thing works. |

My Z1 is on the 2.257 firmware. I did not think of the pictures as horrible as you are saying.
Now I'm really curious about your shots. Please share them! |

my shots are comparable to this from someoe else

in terms of processing. The blue sky alone is much cleaner. yeah I always use iso at 50, could be why.... I hope next firmware will bring massive upgrade, since ZOMG said there should be more option for the jpeg compression. From 80% down to 50%. Compression should be significantly reduced. I remember ppl say the same with Z early one where 3rd party app offer better quality but file size is a bit bigger. Could be the compression algorithm.

I like your pics Hatseflats.. remember to post in the Z1 photos thread too!
Honestly, it's about how you're going to view a photo on a normal basis. I say leave the pixel peeping to the tech/photo reviewers. What should matter to us, the consumer, is whether the photo taken is pleasing to the eye at a normal resolution/zoom. and i think hatseflats pics are great!
@miki - if that's true, that's great! but we should be hearing official news sometime this week, so time will tell.
EDIT: actually i read that link again, the vietnamese site seems to speculate the possibility of leapfrogging to 4.4 is slim to none since it was just released.
of course, it's a matter of when Sony was given the files to work on. I'm not sure how that works.

Great pics hatseflats thanks for sharing
I don't see anything wrong with the pictures apart from the small luminance noise. I think people tend to forget the size is 20mp, If you pixel peep those at 8 or 5 megapixel the pictures are above average for cameraphone quality in my opinion. Of course we are still hoping for that major camera update to improve things further.
Lowlight shots are excellent too, for a shot that was taken at ISO 800, lowlight shots are free from color noise and is very usable when resized to a more reasonable 5 megapixels, which is also how 1020 and 808 achieves their great pictures by downsizing them, apart from thme having a much larger sensor and a finer tuned image processing.
