Hmm, I think this Fall is going to be very interesting with Sonys Z3 an Z3c being directly compared to the new iPhone in its 2 sizes. AFAIK no one else other than Sony is going to have 2 flagship-level phones of 2 sizes releasing in the same timeframe, so by default Sony will be the one who are mostly going to be compared to Apple IMO.
I don't mind the lack of a huge spec bump at all, but I do hope Sony has some tricks up its sleeves to let it stand out. Built in wireless charging is a great start, and I have no doubt they'll continue with the waterproofing. I guess it's WAY too soon to think they'll get the new curved sensors in their phones, so that's out. New design could be a big factor, but we don't know much about that yet.
In fact it'll be even more interesting since Sony will likely have the new Smartwatch also going head to head with the iWatch so the comparisons between the two companies will be even more so. Especially with how the respective watches behave with their respective phones. Anyone think this similar release window of products was deliberately done, or just a coincidence?

Is better that Sony uses Android Wear on it's next SmartWatch. I don't think it will be able to survive against the competition with it's own OS. Plus, they need to make something REALLY good, with some awesome marketing. The Moto 360 is what EVERYONE wants (including me), plus the "revolutionary" iWatch, so they have that too.

Hmmm, plus I suppose there is the chance of a new Sony mini tablet vs. a new IPad mini too, no? I doubt there will be a new full sized Z3 tablet.

I am curious, if they don't use the S805 for Z3, where does this lead us with the Z4?
Guarantied S810??
It would be logical, but you never know....

I don't want Moto 360. Does that mean Moto failed? |

Does anyone have any clue as to why Sony doesn't put IR blasters in their phones? I mean most other big manufacturers do it, Sony has done it, and they continue to put it on their tablets. There's no technological limitations preventing them from doing it. Is that that people really just don't use those functions a lot, or a case of Sony cheaping out?
Anyways, hoping for built-in wireless charging in the Z3 so that it can be further improved in time for the Z4

It was an hyperbole. I never said SW2 failed or SW3 will fail, but with competition, and the current limitation we see with SW2 (only works 100% with Sony devices), it's not going forward.

I think they do that for all their JP models of their flapship, but not international. Same with full seg tv. Their mobile division is way too Japanese centric, they use Japan as a base whenever they release a products, which is dumb and the reason why they will never reach the top in the global market. |

Functionality wise, basicaly the same. It's how it works with almost every app out of the box (notifications). Plus, they need to do something design wise, not software wise. The SW2, IMO, looks way better than the G Watch and the Gear family, but it's still behind Moto 360 design.
Btw, when I said that everyone wants the Moto 360, it is the people who want a smart watch. Those who want, are looking forward to it.

@AbhilD999 Yeah, it's a matter of taste. But that's what most people like, right? And that's what sells. And I'm not old at all lol
@everyone Sorry, I exagerated a lot. But, all in all, Sony still needs to do something really good to beat the whole Moto 360 hype.

I think Sony decision is right, as far as situation goes
Take this cue
Today market 1/4 devices in Android-sphere ready to work with Android Wear, only Android 4.3 / Android 4.4
http://www.phonearena.com/new[....]s-support-Android-Wear_id57640
I don't know if Google would expand more in coming months but it seem not until 2015 at least
Android Wear currently has 3 makers (LG, Sam, Moto + few others vow to join probably Asus / HTC)
Definitely not a solid chance for Sony to compete in right now, even do not count of indirect other competitors.
-------------------------------------------------
And also this one, Snapdragon 400 actually inside those Android Wear but worth to read
http://www.phonearena.com/new[....]mited-to-just-one-core_id57697
Sony would worth to wait chipset specially design ultra-low power for these smartwatch. Those SD400 in Android Wear, I personally think probably a chipset that fail in process of manufacturing and can't work in quad-core setup as it intend to
Anyway, QCOM vow to step-in this market already
///////////////////////////
For me, Android Wear is totally below par from what I'd expect new line of product coming from Google 2014
I would rather wait and see Apple iWatch and hope it can be sync with iPad in Health app instead.
