1. Which is better for a notebook : Intel P4, Intel P4-M or Centrino ?
2. What is the fastest Centrino speed currently ?
3. Say I get a centrino, does that mean I shud get shitload of DDR
Ram ? Say, 512MB to make full use of the 1024kb cache?

p4 is designed for desktop pcs and doesnt have speed-step technology to save battery when its not plugged in
p4-m is self explanatory
centrino is a new processor designed 4 enhanced wi-fi capabilities, enhanced power saving...
i dont even wanna elaborate on this 1...
its gonna take several pages

@sanjeev: i believe shaw() has answered your questions accurately......wat's yer budget like...if it's RM5k and below, u can get some really decent branded notebooks (p4m)...if u can spare an additional RM2k, then the world's your oyster.........if u r in engineering, then get at least 512mb RAM.....otherwise 256 wud suffice......if u r in IT/programming....the min wud be 1gb...ask alex if u dun believe me....

@sanjeev: compaq's got some really reasonble notebooks for under RM5k...try the evo5610c....i got it 4 under RM4.5k but only with 256 mb RAM...need to upgrade later.....if u r targeting under RM5k, centrino's definitely outta the question....it's at least RM6-7k....i kinda like the one IBM's got advertised in the papers.....either that or just get one below RM5k then go for a wireless card...which is not that expensive anyway....let us know once u get it....starbucks the best place to go it the OS and other programs updated.....coffee's good too

Yeah,under 5k but in two months time... Don't you think i shud wait... Maybe prices will drop as the centrino floods the market... Or shud i just go get the darn thing already? @ShawO,you say get the p4m so i will get more gigahertz,so does that mean a 2.4 p4m is better than a 1.6 centrino performance wise except in the bettery department? Also, the fastest p4m is 2.4 right? Only thing i will regret about not getting the centrino is the 1024kb cache and the battery life ... @Shits how much is a wifi card?
