A lot of the ranting is fanboy ranting which is fine but its basically because everyone wants the perfect Sony phone. I am the same, I really wanted a XZ2 Compact that took me back to my beloved lime Z1 Compact but I'm cool with the XZ1 Compact for the moment. The facts are being missed though, the XZ2 and XZ2P will probably have exceptional performance and now give excellent photos on a competitive level to other flagships.
I think people expected more in terms of design which is what I seem to reading and I fully agree, the footprint of these phones needs to be reduced further. That is what reviewers see as well, everyone so far has highly praised the XZ2 but I feel that it should be smaller all round.
@Alvin
Pick up a XZ1 or XZ1 Compact, really cheap and solid phones. I'm waiting for more refinement in the XZ2 and hopefully when the dual camera comes to a Compact. |

100% agree badassmam... I am the same. "why is it 5m taller than than other flagship" and comments like that. Honestly, it's a beautiful awesome performance device. Just as good as a S9 and yes it's a little bigger, but to me it feels more premium. P20 pro comes with last years chip and has questionable effects, smoothing in camera. S9 has a curved display which I really dislike, others have notch...
The blue/green color I have is stunning, new and different and as mentioned much prefer sonys android approach. Overall as a fan boy I am very happy, at least they are not behind the competition anymore.

I like what HMD Global is doing this year.
Nokia 6 has 5.5" 16:9 screen, but dimensions are pretty similar to XZ.
I dont know what you guys think, but in.my opinion DVS was not necessary.
Waste of space.

I agree Moe. It's useless. Would have preferred headphone jack or bigger front cam instead. |

I hate when PS4 control vibrates. Too annoying.
XA2 is pretty well built. I believe bezels have enough space to keep front speakers.
And the edge to edge sides are very popular.
The original XA is very narrow, it even looks like a 18:9 phone.

So with the rumored Xperia Pro, can we finally dream about a Z Ultra successor? Been so long after my last post.
I am looking forward to coming back to Sony but I really need a Z Ultra successor.
6. Something inch screen with a stylus.
Z ultra was designed perfectly, only if sony made it 6 inches...
Anyways nice to be around here again, I have been following the posts but the mystery device really made me anxious .
My former nicks were xperiazultra and thetube. Last posts were in rumors 2014 thread.

haha hope bayern wins! CRY RONALDO CRY!
also.. don't think there will be any Z Ultra successors killmonger... don't think phablets are popular now as they used to be.
you may get a 5.8" or 6".. but only if sony somehow fixes their design and really pushes the screen to body ratio. they are definitely capable of designing a perfectly compact device.. there's gotta be a reason why they're not doing it.
heat distribution maybe? who knows.

I say heat distribution aswell in one sense.
Sony I believe is the only phone that can only record excess long 4k videos .
I got 20 to 40mins with z5 premium depending on weather summer/winter heat/cold

Fairly delighted to read a comment (quoted below) about XZ2. While many bash the position of the FPS, someone have tried it and understood why it has been positioned in such way.
"After handling both the XZ2 compact and XZ2, I realised what Sony's designers were alluding to when people asked why the XZ2 fingerprint sensor is at the centre of the back while the smaller XZ2 Compact's sensor is placed a bit higher. For the XZ2, in order to use your thumb in one hand mode, it would be more likely you'll rest the phone on your fore and middle finger, with the fore finger right at the centre of the ambient flow design back, right at the finger print sensor!
The phone, when you support it at that point - it is perfectly balanced. With that way of supporting the phone, I feel the weight well distributed and in balance. And holding it that way means your thumb will have more free play to reach the far ends of the screen than if you grip the phone in a more traditional way.
TRY IT! .
For the XZ2 Compact, it's so small you're likely to grip in a more hold/vice way. That means yes, the fore finger will end up a bit higher, hence the higher placement of the finger sensor for the XZ2 Compact." |

Sony began this stupid trend after z3+ overheating issue
They made devices heavier and thicker and reduced the battery capacity even with the added bulk
Dont know the exact reason though |

At first I did not know Z3+ has heat pipes too, like Z5.
Beneath mother board.
I believe they cut the video recording to protect hardware.
The other brands limit video, less than 10 min.
About the battery, not only Sony.
Others are using the fact newer CPUs with better litography lose less energy as heat than before.
S8 has same size of S7 Edge but lost 600mAh.
Moto Z and Z2 Force dont even have 2800mAh.
Z2 Play with 3000 while Z Play had 3500.
Except Htc and Huawei, flagships dont come with big batteries lately.
