Oh boy !
Not doubting Dacha, but my post is with reference's to Sony's past track record.
We heard the same thing ever since the Z. "Launching in US on multiple carriers, same time as global launch" blah blah blah and every time we know what happens.
The Z2 was supposed to release on ALL US carriers
Seems like Sony can never be serious about the US market and not even make an attempt |

It will be a Verizon exclusive. Sony is not able or capable to launch a device for multiple US carriers. Have no clue why. as far as I have heard September is the target date for the Z3 variant for Verizon.
You are right that it has been always at least 6 months behind the global release but it looks like Sony might have done their homework this time. Verizon was supposed to get the Z2 but instead decided to go with Z3 because of all the Z2 delays. Z3 is already being tested by VZ. Almost identical design as Z3. |

So what are we expecting at IFA? Z3, Z3 Compact, SmartWatch 3 and new mini tablet?

Same specs and same design? Why are they even releasing it? I guess they have misjudged Z2 demand and are left with a huge number of unused parts in inventory. |

any chance on the Z3 to feature BUILT IN wireless charging?
that'd be nice

@ Dacha
Verizon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do you think SONY will make a CDMA
the last CDMA phone, no sorry the only CDMA phone SONY built under SONY MOBILES was the Acro
honestly i was in need so much to CDMA and i was talking with randomuser about that as i was wanting to buy the htc One-M8 but i guess i will wait until the iphone 6 the 4.7" and see
but if SONY made the Z3 or Z3 compact with CDMA i will go to the Z3 of course
but honestly not this optimistic |

Good news is that the sensor is fully ready for mass production.
Anyway, if anyone remember what @randomuser have been said earlier about production, I think he was bluff.
CDMA Phone shouldn't hard to work, as chipset and baseband today readily than the past. Look at you QCOM!
Sony would require little bit hard work on tuning, but standard config from Verizon shouldn't be bad any mean.

DACHA meant same design as Z3,, he meant that the Version version of Z3 will be almost the same, the design is same...
but Z3 it self is different than Z2 design wise.. thought same spec. AFAWK

A Z2 along similar design is . Good for Z2 owners like me but its a bad idea. I hope they delay Z3 by at least 6 months and bring an all new design. The Z2 is good as it is,up there with the competition so an immediate refresh isn't needed.

Nothing really new, but good summary from zomgbbqftw:
[...] S805 has been ruled out in favour of bringing S810 in earlier AIUI due to battery life concerns with S805 (the modem isn't integrated properly). Z3 is more like a Z2s, but with a new design allowing it to take the Z3 name. Z4 is where the internal changes come, but the design from Z3 to Z4 will remain the same. This should be a preview of where Sony are heading, refined designs in H2 and refined hardware spec in H1. Also notice that they have aligned all of their H2 hardware with the "3" moniker, T3, C3 and soon Z3. [...]

honestly it's logic
approximatley all car maker now renew the model every 6 years, and renew the Engines / Gearboxes also every 6 years
but 3 years later after the renewed generation
for example in LEXUS GS, the current L10 4th generation was appeared on 2012 as 2013 model with total new body and total new chassis, but with the same old Engines, in 2015/2016 it will have the Mid life facelift it will be a simple tweaks or major not the main thing, but in this 2015/2016 it will have new generation of Engines
if you can make this example on SONY it fits so much, this will always make the SONY XPERIA Z product always fresh and in the same time, the one that buy for example Z4 will not feel a real major until Z6, and it will be much more better for those whom buy the odd number as the one who buy Z3 will not feel until maybe also Z6 by the next design upgrade and next hardware upgrade, but for SONY it always updating the hardware and the design, it's win-win strategy if they make it correct |

There is not much not to trust. The story with S805 and it's modem is known, as well as that the real hardware bump will come with the Z4. A change in design is also expected for quite a while now. We'll have to wait and see, if it will be a revolution or just an evolution, but they will surely hold on with it for atleast a year.

Quick question about C3 (I'm not sure if peple would know it in the respective thread). Is it made by a third party, like the original Xperia C? Or is "in-house", like the rest of the devices?

Very nice.. can't wait to see what the mobile phone version can do. On sonyalpharumors it says that the only problem is that its very difficult to design zoom lenses for it, but with phones we don't care about that
So less noise, no softness around the corners, no vignetting... bring it on |
