Before i read the updated info in the expansys forum, I spoke to a guy at Expansys about 10mins ago asking what was meant by pre launch stock...he had no idea what i was talking about and was actually bloody rude! He kept saying, well obviously that is the stock that is being sent out to the people who have made a pre-order. I told him that i dont think he understands what i meant, and that on their forum there is a discussion about there being a possibly difference between a pre-launch stock, of which he said under his breath 'so stupid', and then continued to say out loud, there is no difference whatsoever been the pre launch stock and the UK version!

Its a shame that they dont read their own forum, or are not updated about their own stock!

Fantatic customer service Expansys...

Xpansys like most telesales operations pay their telephone sales guys peanuts and we all know what you get if pay peanuts! So I am not very surprised that he is not very knowledgeable,

I am now certain that my view is correct, until we start to see the first phones being offered direct from the networks retail units (these will have most likely have been FULLY tested on the UK networks and should have the latest firmware installed until then people will just be buying a very expensive problem it’s a shame as customers should get what is advertised and what they have paid for, I really want a P990 but I am not desperate enough to let desire get the better of logic.

If you spent £500 on a camera and it did not do what what it said on the box it would go straight back and most likely we would go and buy another brand, but its unlikely to happen as those products are tested to work before they are put up for retail sale, the camera manufacturers would not risk their reputation in the same way mobile phone companies seem to do.

i cancelled my order with expansys as mphone are quite a bit cheaper and are quoting same time for stock delivery

Same here, although phones2udirect seem to have a pretty good price, a few £'s cheaper than mphone lol.

But cancelled my order with expansys, they arent even entertaining the thought of price-matching with mphone as they reckon they will be the first to get stock. But having spoken to someone at mphone, they are adamant that they are getting stock in tommorrow and the phone should be with me by monday latest they say.

/me goes off to place his order with mphone.

LOL. Wonder how many orders have been cancelled at Expansys and moved to mphone or others in the last few hours.
Expansys must be wondering what on earth has hit them.

Hehe their stupid price for a start, anyone who buys from expansys at the price they are giving isnt thinking very straight . Im just glad i have places like esato and my-symbian forums to go when i need advice or general opinions.

Exactly what I have done. To be honest I think Expansys will end up being forced to drop their price to match the other suppliers, but I guess they'd like to hold out as long as possible.

I chose to order with mphone as I've had a nightmare with phones2udirect in the past - not only are they almost impossible to actually get hold of, but a little while ago they took over a month to refund me for a SIM free M600i (ordered at the same time as Expansys but Expansys delivered first and because of the difficulty contacting Phones2udirect they didn't get my email or phone messages asking them to cancel the order ).
I tend to think its better to pay a couple of quid more to know at least there is going to be reasonable customer service, and I've seen a few people recomend mphone in the past.

As the saying goes a fool is easily parted with his money.

Sadly there will always be people willing to pay ripoff prices - I know of a couple of people who ordered the TyTN from Expansys despite being available at the time almost £60-70 cheaper elsewhere...

Strangely, that's exactly what they did to me when I emailed them to confirm my order yesterday... Perhaps I shouldn't have complained so vociferously... :-S

I have bought cases and screen protectors from doml several times, so I can confirm their reliability.

True, however just because you don't care that much about the money, doesn't mean you're a fool.

Right further to my doom and gloom post earlier, been on the phone (to mobileshop), they confirmed their stock was coming in on Monday, I am 64th on the list and they are getting 130, whoo hoo it's nearly here.
As my god-daughter would say 'It's just five sleeps till it's here'.

Just a little update.

finally spoke to a really friendly guy at phones2udirect where my order is placed.

He said stock was due in today but they have been told from their supplier (same supplier as mphone and expansys possibly?) that the shipment is arriving in the country this afternoon and will be forwarded to resellers Friday AM..there is still the likelihood of a delay into next week however

phones2udirect purchasing team were busily trying to get confirmation from the suppliers as i spoke to him.

Been waiting for the P990i since beginning of year as an insurance replacement

Just recieved this from the insurance company

"Sony Ericsson never released the P990 phone on to the UK market and it appears they do not intend to release this phone....."

Not happy so I have emailed Sony Ericsson to get confirmation... I don't hold out much hope though....
