Yes, I pre-ordered from Expansys. I'm not waiting for Sony Style. They have no clue about release dates either. The salemen there said I'll find out about products before he does

Ya, thats pretty sad. Poor Sony Style salesmen....ya I preordered also, mine is suppose to be here on the 30th. I feel like a kid waiting on Xmas. I never thought I'd ever get that feeling again. Damn X1

Not sure what you're pointing to on that site, but what do you mean by orientation switch? The X1 has no accelerometer, the only "orientation switch" is the sliding out of the keyboard, which will always put it in landscape mode. When closed, it is always in portrait (whichever way you hold it).

Well, the earlier protos had a dedicated switch to change the orientation but it was inactive. It was in line of the mini usb port. It was said to get activated in the final hardware. And now in the pic, that switch is not present. Check the first page of this forum for the older pic with the orientation switch.

When do you guys think this will be out on 02 contract? My current plan runs out at the end of november and its a toss up between this and the iphone.

Will X1 / WM phones in general support Java? I'm fond of Opera Mini and suspect it would do a better job than full scale Opera and IE at rendering web sites fast and with the least amount of transferred data involved.

WIndows isn't exactly known for providing good Java support, but who knows. Perhaps SE has added something.

I'll be honest with you, I'd never heard of surface acoustic until now, and I'm not 100% convinced that technology has ever been used in any smartphone.

I'm been following this thread I believe Max is right from the first post. I am not expert on touch screens and I don't think Max is one either but for at least 10 years I've read or heard about multitud of different touch technologies some maybe don't exist any more.

But surely I read some where about accoustic pulse sensitive screens I though it was for some high end technology aparatus but now that Max mentioned it I realized we have it in our hand without even knowing. Others that come to head now seems may not be a reality yet like: Resistive, I think this the one that needs preassure, Capacitive I believe this is the one iPhone uses, Infrared, optical, reflexive...

But BTW I digged out an old palm pilot about 1999/2000 and it looks plastic but it's very hard I was drawing on it and responds to nails and stylus with almost no touch. With the finger I have to press but a minimum.

@Boinng
EDIT I just read the surgery Max did on his device. That counts better that whatever I said here.

@Max_Wedge
Thanks Max, I got a better understanding. (at least on the Mini screen)

but the fact is the screens are designed to protect the lcd and to say you need a screen protector just indicates excessive force is being used.

well, if it's not one of the 32-35 countries that are getting it on september 30th, then you'll be seeing it launch when it launches in North America as well.

I know of a couple of people on here that pre-ordered it from expansys.com.
I think it's a reliable site.
I to have pre-ordered it from expansys.com.
