the directional controller like the one in iPod, would even be better. don't you think?

But wouldn't that make the phone cost more than it has to be? Not to mention all the accidental phone calls or things similar to it that might be made if there was no keylock even if the phone was closed.

i too think se are being just stupid for not including a 2.5 jack in this phone, sure i can see why they didn't do it in k700, i really hope that they will put in a 2.5 mm jack in p1000 or something like that, i think the stereo headsets connect the same way as the ones in k700 (actually i think the headphones are the same because of the built in antenna....)

I also really don't understand the reason why they don't include a normal 2,5 inch plug. The headsets they use aren't made for music and they just don't sound good. I want to use a headphone of my own choice.

The strange thing is that the SO505is features a special connector onto which you can connect a remote.
The remote has a normal 2,5 inch plug. Take a look here, and here

SE, I want this also on my S700............... please

I completely Agree with you man on this one I want one too!!!!! I'm sure SE will be happy to ablige!!! If not will you be taking a trip over to purchase and check if that accessory will work with the S700?? hmmm?!!!!

I can honestly say I'm not impressed by S700. Its form factor is unpractical (I have used the Japanese one, and ok, it's nice at first, but really gets annoying quickly e.g. it doesnt rotate completely), it's big once open. It combines bad points of both candybar and clamshell form factors: the bad point of a candybar is that the screen is exposed to scratches, as opposed to a clamshell. However, a candybar is always small sized even when using the keyboard, while a clamshell is usually big when you want to type something, as it requires to be opened. The screen of a swivel is exposed to scratches, and it's big when open. Oh, but the keyboard is not exposed to scratches, that's a good thing

And its specs are disappointing for a phone due out in *Q4 (read Christmas time)* this year. Yes 1.3Mpixel is nice and 262k colour is nice to have, but I would have expected more. At least EDGE support to send these big pictures you can take with a 1.3Mpixel...

Phones available today, have EDGE support, FM radio, MP3 player on MMC, etc.

I suppose I can endure a few scratches for the advantages of the S700's swivel over clamshell:
1. you pay for one big screen instead of 2 smaller screens (1 outside, 1 inside of a clamshell)
2. you can make a call from the phonebook without opening the phone (I think this is impossible to do on a clamshell)
3. you can read SMS, MMS, e-mail, WAP without opening the phone as compared to clamshell which you have to keep open while doing these stuff (imagine wap surfing on a calmshell with a 240x320 screen - if such a thing exists - in the metro)

Other than the 240x320 screen, I can't name any other advantage of the s700 over a candybar phone. If any other phone maker came up with a candybar phone with 240x320 screen and can match s700's specs and 's user interface I'd gladly take that. unfortunately there isn't one, so I'll take the swivel.

I don't get why everyone is obsessed about changing their sms tones. I have many friends who have nokia phones. They change theit sms tone for a while but in the end they rever it back to the standard nokia sms tones. why? because having wav or mp3 sms tones can be too distracting in school, office, at home, in other words, everywhere.

That is so true. When I used to have a Nokia, I would always change the tone of my phone, but in the end, I ended up using the tones that came with the phone. Though it would be a nice feature to have the ability to change the SMS tones, I don't feel that it's necessary in a phones selling point.

Has anyone got any news about the S700? I've been searching the net but I haven't found anything yet. it seems that has clammed up after the launch and Cebit.

It might only be able to resist a lot of possible scratch threats but nothing which is made of plastic material is unscratchable.

I don't know if this has been answered already, but does anybody happen to know what the resolution is for the video recording.
Here's another one for you, when i watched the esato video presentation of the S700 the guy said it can take a memory stick upto 1GB, i have looked all over the internet and I can NOT find a Mem stick duo for 1GB, so does this mean that it can take normal mem stick and stick out a bit, which wouldn't be a problem to live with. Sorry if i annoy anyone with this, i was just wandering.

Does it make -->[se-nse.com]
