The viewing angles and brightness on this display is very good especially for an IPS panel.
Also the XZ reminds of how the Arc felt in the hand. I'm not sure why that is.

I prefer this display over anything else I have used before.
The display is extremely good with not too warm colours..
Sadly the phone as far as the camera department goes, lags behind the Galaxy S7 in almost all conditions. The camera UI also falls short. The manual mode is not really a manual mode.
Set the ISO to whatever value you want to have and you lose the ability to change the exposure time. Change the exposure time to the value you want and you lose the ability to change your ISO. Another thing is you can't change the colour temperature in the manual mode either more than using the different WB mode.
Why Sony would not allow you to adjust colour temperature manually in manual mode is a mystery. In Superior Auto, you can and that's why I think Superior Auto mode is better for almost all conditions.
Shame really.
Sony need to make a complete overhaul in the UI. As for now I much rather use the Galaxy S7 for photo shooting and not because it takes that much better photos, simply because it's less cumbersome and gimped.

i have camera ZOOM fx which is fully featured but still limited. for example, shutter speed only goes down to 1/10 of a second, which isn't even as good as sony. supposedly it uses camera 2.0 so not sure why there's a limitation. another thing is, when flash is enabled, it will flash before the shutter so images are not illuminated. just FYI for those who are thinking of trying this app.
Also tried Open Camera. very annoying UI and even though it uses camera 2.0 there does not seem to be a way to manually adjust shutter speed. lame.
tried snap camera too. don't like it. the UI is cluttered and when manual mode is enabled all the sliders take up the screen space and don't go away easily? maybe i need to play with it more but again the shutter only goes down to 1/10s. is this some kind of 3rd party app limitation sony implemented? if so, that is lame.
I am trying other camera apps to see what i like. also tested feature compatibility with Manual Camera and there is no RAW support. Not sure if this was mentioned. That is disappointing but not a huge deal to me.
I have definitely not be able to quick charge my XZ within an hour. I plugged it in at 1% and it took well over 2 hours to fully charge, which is no better than the regular charger. There is no quick charge indication either. I need to download one of those amperage apps to see what's going on during the next charge. Letting it drain down to 1% again.
Also, some things i noticed and wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same.
1) adjusting brightness to say 50% manually. my assumption is this would deactivate the auto brightness, but i could be wrong since it eventually goes back to whatever the auto brightness thinks it should be.
2) occasional lag when switching between apps. for example, the keyboard seems to take a bit longer than it should to disappear.
3) i don't think i have a ton of apps, but my average memory usage is about 2.2GB. What's everyone else doing?
UPDATE: just got a maintenance update... very small. probably a security patch.

looks great xperia junkie.. did you use the stock app?
just got my screen protector. it fits very well.. i'd say about 95% perfect. my only complaints is that it feels very thick on the screen it definitely doesn't feel like glass. also, there is some portions at the top that "click" when pressed on. i definitely hear it when swiping down to get the notifications. for the money, i'm satisfied and it should do the job but i'm sad it's not more perfect...

Moogoo, I was typing something similar as your post came across. My alignment is a hair off from top to bottom. I have the same clicking on top left. It seem that the only adhesive is on the edges. Im hoping it keeps its adhesive but eventually I think it will begin to lift in my top left corner. I agree about it being about 95% fit, as to why we have that click. |

@xperiajunkie - cool. out of all the camera apps i've tried so far, the stock one seems to be the most user friendly. even though you can't control shutter speed and iso values at the same time. It still seems the most capable . especially since you can do shutter speed to 1s instead of only 1/10s in all the 3rd party apps i've tried. I ordered this screen protector: https://www.amazon.com/Xperia[....]eywords=gcolor+clear+xperia+xz
covers all of the glass. edges and cutouts are almost exact. it just feels a bit thick and not like glass. also the clicking from the top when swiping down notifications. this could vary from piece to piece. probably a small defect in manufacturing.
@dibdin - it uses gorilla glass but there is no information as to which version.
@icrk - yea.. oh well. it will do the job. i also have the gel case around the rest of my phone too. so maybe it won't slide off so easily in time. at least the beauty is fully protected and i can still see it for the most part.

Yea..its better than what I was using and anything else I've currently seen. This is a better front angle.
@dibdin A lot of well respected publication states that its Gorilla Glass 4 but the Sony white Paper just says Gorilla Glass.

Firsly, the XZ looks lovely. I really like the forest blue, but then I am biased.
I haven't used a screen protector for years. I don't think you need one nowadays. Have had my Z5 for a year and there's only a tiny scratch that I can barely see, and that was when I dropped it face down onto gravel. I used the Z3 for about 16 months and that was the same. I use a thin, clear case bought from ebay. Had the smart cover case, but hated it. |

@XperiaJunkie
Your picture is a good example what happens when you only can play with the ISO setting and not with the exposure time as well.
Longer exposure time would make the image more realistic.

@icrkz - have you noticed touch sensitivity issues with your new screen protector? i have to apply a decent amount of pressure to get it to recognize my touches. i'll admit, my fingers are pretty messed up right now as i'm doing home renovations, but just seems like it's a bit off. i'm gonna try turning on glove mode to see if that helps..
UPDATE: ok so glove mode did help but it creates an annoying circle everywhere you touch. it looks like having the gel case and this screen protector at the same time is no good. the gel case pushes the screen protector off constantly increasing the clicking sound and making touch sensitivity pretty much nonexistent. so now the question is, which is priority? the glass or the back/sides? :/ they need some of those clear protective films for the back! argh
