I guess the compass issue is solved. A nice person asked about in the SE dev forum and got a positive answer.
So now it is only the screen issue that needs attention. This phone will be great then! Btw it is already great but will be even better...

Has anyone seen this on the official blog, The have changed the question regarding android version to:
Will the X10 receive Android 2.0 update (for those who bought from the initial batches with Android 1.6) ?
The UX platform used for Xperia X10 will evolve to Android 2.0 over time.
So I guess that 2.0 will indeed be available on the phone. |

Good news, but WTH is up with the garbled communications around this phone's release? Why don't any of the specs seem definitive, and why does it fall to various random bods on SE forums or blogs to try out their own prototypes (which may not all be the same) to confirm or deny different things?
I'm not saying this is going to happen, but what if the dev support guy on that forum just happens to have one of the prototypes that *does* have the compass installed, and it's the guy who wrote the spec sheet/white paper who actually knows that it's been cut from the final product?

Pressure... that is what SE needs.... endless pressure..about the specs since it is an early prototype ! |

But motorola on 2.0 will have 16mill.
Couldn't SE have put a better display in it and then 1.6 would use 65K and then more after upgrading?
I'm most likely still getting this though.
Could I get the link that said Android 1.6 support 65K color while Android 2.0 support 16.7M color?
Maybe Android 2.0 still support 65K, so motorola actually had some downsampled images?

There should be no surprise when it comes to 65K color display as manufacturer of this device is the same one that does X2.
But SE developers are not that stupid and I am sure they didn't downsampled UX blue background since its one giant gradient but rather they made it as 65K from the start which eliminates "replacment of missing colors".
Viewing photos and videos would be a different story.

first off no one is trolling here, its not trolling just because theres a difference of opinion, thats called discussion or debate, its when someone is deliberately trying to cause arguments without being on topic. so no need to name call its on a fair side of unproductive.
still, i had to ask someone who could tell me about the compass and since the app works we know its included, its gotta be part of the chipset which is why i was thoroughly confused about it.
still good to know now. now onto bigger and better things, got one down, lets see if we can nudge a new bit depth outta SE.
and no HTC didnt make the X10 they are 2 diff manufacturers. |

About the compass: http://developer.sonyericsson.com/community/message/129127#129127
BTW, the screen was capable of 256K but had to limit it due to Android 1.6. When Android 2.0 upgrade applied screen will be 256K.
Just kidding about the screen. I know I shouldn't make jokes about such a delicate topic but I couldn't resist. Sorry for that.
