I can hardly wait for the G900.
And why do you guys always have to engage in these seemingly endless debates about what should or should not do?
Clearly...all the bickering will not change anything. If the phone does not suit you, then try something else. If it does, then go for it.
We need to stop this. It's pointless. It won't change what it will have in the end unless ofcourse is here reading every comment and giving a total hoot. LOL.

From the look of the renderings it looks glossy and hard. It's basically a advanced candybar phone so I guess it'll be similar to W960.
Thanks, I've never seen a real W960, does it have a hard covered screen as well? Not like my P1i's soft screen? I'll be very happy if it does as it will offer better protection.

@apolloa:
the W960 has a hard screen that is flush with the phone's surface, making it easy to access areas on the edge of the screen with your fingers. The G900 seems to sport the same kind of screen, so hopefully it'll be as practical. Though some people mention it's slightly less responsive than a P1-tyep screen..
Does anyone have an answer to my earlier question: is it possible that the processor used in the G900 (based on EMP) will be faster than the Nexperia-based one, despite having same clock speed (220MHz)?

If the G900 screen is as good as the W960i's in strength, this G9 will be a great seller.

well.. it's ...possible that they're incorporating some particular instruction set on the chip to play particular types of animations, etc. So it's possible they end up being faster on some types of graphics, or some types of processes, even though the processor is slower (like.. nintendo 64 vs. Playstation.. same thing). But they're not going to be faster on executing generic code, or code that depends on run- time calculation (not that this really is the majority of the code on the handsets nowadays anyway..).

Yeah, more colours would be nice. With these two only...I am unsure which I like.

Thanks Nipsen !
From the related videos, it looks like the G900 is way faster than P1/W960. Maybe the source code was optimized as well for faster processing? That would be a good sign that at last UIQ programmers realized some improvements had to be made.

Mm. But there were a lot of room for improvement, even without magical changes to the filaments. A more effective use of the views, for example. As it is now, it works - but it's not very well thought out - that you can't switch to the list, the composer and a contact view, for example. And instead have to reload everything every time. Instead of simply renewing the views whenever they're out of date, for example. Wouldn't have to be an expensive check- algoritm doing that either. Could just have the other program consistently mark the data- store, and then refresh and set the flags back. Perfectly possible to do that, been done before, etc.
So - I'm not very positive today, I guess - but we won't have nicely done transition, transparency and layer- effects on the menus and programs very soon. I don't think SE is really thinking about any of that. But it's possible we're going to see how "UIQ"(read: SE's extra software, phone- tools, contacts, messenger) should've been at the first release this year. And that will mean noticeable speed- increases, most likely.

@benitorios.
Thanks, had a look at some photos online after what was said about the W960, I'm sure it's a responsive touch screen and also if it wasn't I wouldn't care as it offers much better protection and is no doubt easier to wipe the fingerprints off too!!

Actually it might make a difference. It's user requirements that makes new features.
4 years ago I complained about SE not having a candybar smart-phone in non-PDA range. Obviously some others wanted the same since we now got G series. Maybe in few years we'll even get HSDPA integrated, if we bicker long enough, hehe.
