The signal bars are always full.
My screen brightness is at 75%. When the keypad lights get activated, the brightness is less, and when its not on, the brightness is a lot. Is that normal? |

Hi and gooood afternoon/night!
I have a, off course urgent, question that i originally wrote to a N73 owner here at esato but i need/would like a quick answer... if possible.
So here it goes:
I am in the situation where i´m thinking about getting a N73 or a K800. N73 has more "candy" and stuff that really appeals to me (pity that N73 seems to lack support for bluetooth stereo headset).
My question is: Is the camera as good as the K800? I´ve been looking at photos on internet that has been taken with K800 and N73. I´d say that they are equal...they actually look different- the N73 gives sharper pictures but has almost to strong colours- the K800 showes smoother pictures but lacks colour somewhat. BUT one of the photos i saw shows a really bad pic from the N73. I think the pic is here
http://www.gsmarena.com/n73_d900_k800_photo-review-102p2.php
The pic is on a blue/purple flower and the N73 pic i s awfull. Is there a problem with taking close up photos with N73? Or does it only have problems with the colours blue/purple colours? Is it possible to change settings regarding the fullness/richness of colours when taking photos?
I would be most thankfull for your reply on this matter. |

I think its because N73 generally "pumps" up the colors of the pics taken.
Generally speaking, K800 has a much better camera. But that, by no means says N73 doesnt. It just a little worse. It takes bad night pics. If camera is important, get the K800. N73 beats K800 in everything else. |

I believe the N-Gage QD's battery will fit & work if so then you've got the BEST longest lasting battery Nokia ever made.

(EDITED)- I fail to understand this obsession with WiFi as at least here in the UK with T-Mobile i can use as much web and e-mail as i want for £7.50 pm. Switching to Wlan means adding WEP keys every time and is a complete pain in comparison to just carrying on over 3G. The only thing i would say about any new phones and there specs More Ram is not an option it is a necessity otherwise true multi tasking is destined to history IMO.

> I agree about more RAM! We thought that the 6620 was king of multitasking and from what I've read here & on other threads it STILL is. However, if Nokia stats 40MB of RAM ALL of it after startup should be available. I'm worried that the N95 may have this achilles' heel.
> WiFi WEP keys can be saved in the N80/E61/E70 N93 so that the NEXT time you connect to the SAME AP you wouldnt need to enter it again. Its the same way with laptops so this part of your statement is mute. I dont know how available WiFi AP (Access Points) are in your city but in mine across the pond its bountiful. Most are NOT encrypted and are free. And our Canadian law states that if someone doesnt encrypt their AP then it is no crime to use it (not entirely as you see fit; if you're doing hacking to a government db or network- its a crime).
NOTE: WiFi usuage will considerably wear out your N80 battery. I have YET to see anyone post evidence that WiFi over 2-2.5hr+ on a full battery. I surf A LOT on my home computer, and did more so when I had my 6620. If I get a phone with WiFi I'd surf mostly on it.
Its all about demographics. For GPRS/EDGE currently in Canada we dont have TRUE unlimited data (we're capped at 100MB, 200MB for BlackBerries) and charged more for overages, even cut off if it happens as a trend. So, as you can see WiFi has a great significance for me and others here in major cities across Canada UNTIL our providers follow suit with affordable decent data (btw cost is currently $100CAN = 100MB, $100CAN = 200MB on BB's only).

Now you see the light! ,
Most ppl thought I shouldnt be concerned over the N95 > which has MORE internal features to use & a larger screen, when the N80 cannot hold its own.

Ive had two nokia series 60 phones and the battery is the worst thing ive ever seen. I had to charge it every night so i didnt go out of power. But the futures on most nokia series 60 phones is incredible compared to the size. Except from power and the lack of ram memory. But uiq phones have that aswell. So as i can see they both are realy god competitors to each other.

I think every one is going to have to get used to this with batteries untill some major new technology comes along. Nobody gets pissed off when their laptop dies after 4 hours or their digicam or their gps batteries run out. A smartphone performs far more functions than phone used to even a couple of years ago and it has a brighter bigger higher res. screen. I really can't see whats the big deal in sticking it in a charger by the side of your bed every night before you sleep or topping it up in your car. The screen sizes, functions and so on just keep increasing but a Li-ion battery is a Li-ion battery- it can't get any smaller. |

Two faults with your reasoning.
4 yrs ago a laptop with just 1 9cell battery Li-ION could NOT get more than 3hrs of normal MS Word processing with MP3 playback continuously. Let alone watching a DVD from FULL charge completely, you'd miss the last 45mins. Today we're getting 4-6 hours on 1 just 1 battery. The battery technology is ALREADY there; its called Lithium-Polymer! Its what SE phones have built a staple on. Nokia has been VERY retarded to ignore this EVEN when old laptop batteries based on lithium-ION have sparked/exploded/caught on fire.
With Lithium-Polymer the battery power increases noticeably, furthermore the shape of the battery can be molded within reason & even be folded to compress its size. Sure there is still a DIRECT correlation between battery strength & size; then its UP to the engineers to make the phone more ... hmm ... lets say FRUGAL/SCROOGE when it comes to power consumption. Nokia has NO engineers that realize this. Even with great products like the N80/E70/N95 I will NOT purchase them UNTIL I can see great improvements in power consumption being lessened. And already their using Texas Instruments OMAP cpu's; the best at power consumption/performance for mobile devices in the industry.
S60 & UIQ should be tweaked for efficiency. I DONT need an alarm notificatoin to take up the WHOLE screen keeping the backlight on. Especially if I've set 15 different alarms per day. (not that I do but you can see the power needed to execute this.) If I'm set to a profile like MEETING then ONLY a small strip of the LED should be lit to show a brief synopsis of info with the ability to SIDE-SCROLL or the ability to pull UP the FULL information. This is something that the PALM OS 6 COBALT was gonna be and was gutted for no apparent reason. Design costs, BULL.
The technology for highly reflective backpanels should be in use with the light sensor if sunlight or indoor office light is highly in use. There should be NO power needed to power the LCD, yet the LCD should CLEARLY show information. Would the LightSensor consume power more than a backlight to be able to enable the backlight on the fly when sudden darkness ensues?!
This is just a FEW examples that EVERY smartphone manufacturer should consider.
