"Stop The Clock" is Vodafone-to-Vodafone, right, during certain hours. So outside of those hours Vodafone to other networks is.... Open The Wallet, i'm guessing...

@ Kryptik,
RE Vodafone: you guessed right,matey.
RE the Moto Messenger...
Gee,that brings back memories! Your posts do occasionally reactivate a wealth of nostalgia in da Wanqsta, that often lie dormant until a mention like that triggers things off!
I had one of those Motorolas. It was called a V100 here.A flip-phone,as the V prefix denotes.Had a QWERTY keyboard, but had to plug in the earpiece/handsfree to make and answer calls.Bought one very cheap, but the battery life was truly pathetic, and I found the absolute necessity of the earpiece a hindrance at times.I soon flogged it,but the ease to sms with the keyboard prompted me to get the A008 Accompli after that, although this was a virtual keyboard.

Banks, they make money out of you and you wont notice. Although it is still convenient to use a credit card than carry cash or a debit card. If I had the same buying convenience without a credit card, that would be nice. It seems they time you, they come with offers of increased limits and new products at the time you think you need them.
But well a credit card makes buying easy, makes life easy, at a high price though. I heard earlier that South African banks are expensive. Will hang on to my card.

@KBR, to some extent i'd agree, but would differ in the regard that although their primary responsibility is to their shareholders and increasing their profitability, some of them do have a well-developed social conscience.
The fact that certain banks don't charge fees when dealing with schools, churches, etc speaks volumes. Sure, it may be a very minor aspect of banking when compared to the way they rip the general public off, but to a school like mine, which is technically a hovel, albeit a hovel with a view, it's a godsend being able to save an extra bit per month. R70, which is what we were charged at Standard, buys us a few extra bags of rice or samp... Believe me, it makes a HUGE difference in the lives of kids who live in an area where there's 80%+ unemployment.

Nokia 6680 or P910i?
A firmware upgrade is supposed to improve your phone's overall performance but since the upgrade my phone seems to have worsened...I could deal with the fact that I lost all my games, tones, themes and pics...what I couldn't deal with though is the fact that I can't play just any 3gp video.
What used to happen is that even if the phone said "file not supported" I would download a 3gp clip anyway and would be able to play it in the "Other" folder or move it to the Video folder.
I also can't answer calls in "hands-free mode"...I press the button on the attachment to answer a call but it won't, so then I'm forced to unplug the "hands-free" and answer the call in the ol' fashion way...urggghhhhh.
As soon asw i have some free time I'll take it back to Vodacare and ask them to flash it back to RAE0033.

@ brix,
If it's possible to wait a bit longer, hopefully the N70 would reach SA shores sooner than later? It's just come on the market here in limited numbers at this stage,so maybe it will reach the nether regions of the world in the forthcoming months...
After havihg a fiddle with one at the Smartphone Show,it really has been tempting me as well,(damn good camera, very classy-looking,etc.,IMO...)although the P990 is still my first choice,by a 'country mile.' |

I agree to, but for individuals like me and the others, banks will manipulate you and take advantage with offering overdrafts and stuff... but when it comes to paying it back and the interest... dont get caught out with a stupid little clause... youll regret it, maybe for the rest of your life! |

@786KBR: After months of resisting the urge, I finally made use of my overdraft facility after I moved into a new place last month...moving is expensive.
I should add though that I spend wisely and don't give in to marketing hype easily.
@da wanqsta: The Nokia N70 will probably reach us only next year...I don't think I can wait that long for a new phone although I said previously on this forum that I'd wait until Feb/March to upgrade but the simple frustrations are just irking me.

@KBR, i certainly agree. It's nauseating how banks preach that they follow 1st World banking standards yet they cling to the notion that they should gouge us for costs, unlike the bulk of their foreign counterparts. Hopefully we'll see some changes now that Barclay's have slipped into bed with ABSA.
@Brix, tell me about it! Moving is a damn hassle sometimes. Fortunately the place i've bought is less than 40m from my current place. I've already got a squad of schoolboys lined up to help me cart my stuff over the road. Going to be a bit sparse in the furniture dept though, never been a believer in hoarding most things i'm not using. What i DO need to get is a pc for my study. Been 2 years since i owned one, so it's about time. What's the latest in home computing @ all?

@Kryptik: I'm sure Game has got some good offfers on computers although they stock mostly HP and Mecer machines, also check out Makro...there are so many temptations out there for poor South Africans to get into debt, damn I hate these low interest rates...I can remember back in 1998 when there was a collective spirit of austerity in the country in the face of 25% interest rates, now everyone 18 year-old wants to open a clothing account.

@Rhino: I'm envious of Macs but they're soooo damn expensive for what they actually do. Unless you're in some business where you're working with graphics/video/photo editing a Mac is going to be pretty useless because you'll get the same functionality in a PC that is probably 30% cheaper.
One thing about Macs though is that they sync seemlessly with SE phones.

Did you guys see the three new 'fashion' phones, the L'Amour range, announced by Nokia today? The 7360,7370 and 7380.
Obviously all in the sad name of fashion at the expense of features,it seems...the souped-up 7280,called the 7380,again no keypad, but now with 2mp camera, but no sign of things called Bluetooth or IR....although all have EDGE.
Then there's the swivelling 7370,which seems to be a S700i clone, complete with 1.3mp cam etc.
You can check out the (tragically) hip 3 new phones in their 'exciting' Autumn-coloured hues here:
http://www.gsmarena.com/news-detail141.php
Somehow I think nuances or shades of 'Faecal Brown','Earwax Vermilion' and 'Urine Yellow' would be more fitting names for the colours selected for this new range of fashion phones, which I am certainly not enAMOURED about...

@da wanqsta: I'm detecting some ill will towards the Evil Empire? Those new phones lack any high tech specs because they're aimed directly at the female demographic. So the Finns are sexist. I haven't seen the full specs but going by the prices I saw this afternoon it seems the only thing new on these phones are the fancy covers.
