No. As you can notice, most of the PC displays are now widescreen, 16:10 or 16:9. New digital cameras can take pictures in these modes too, insetead of only 4:3. This way, when you view the photos on a wide PC display, you'll see them fullscreen - not with bars on the left and right sides.

I wanted to say - can it take pictures and video in widescreen, not "make".

The picture in BengalBoy's review is this:

Any info on Blogger in X1?

Well, you can always crop out the bottom and top of a 4:3.

Anyway, I have seen reports that X1 camera can take photos in wvga compatible aspect ratios.

Well of course it could be cropped, but then I guess he is after something that could be used without any post processing.

But you have answered that already

@melk
It is stated on pages 14 and 26 (images and video respectively) of the Whitepaper (r3a) that widescreen recording/capturing is supported. You will have to look at the numbers to see if their aspect ratios match the aspect ratios of your intended display device.

According to the whitepaper, both photos and videos are supported for widescreen.

X1 should support 8GB and 16GB cards...

P.S. The memory question with P990, I have seen people that have 4GB memory sticks in their P990 and the phone is doing well.

yep mine worked fine with 4Gb (Still does) but the 8gb card was a definite NO No

In case it was never made known before, 8GB works as flawlessly as a 128MB card would in a P990. The retailer I bought it from advised me against buying it too but I proved her wrong. It turns out that the notion of bigger cards would result in slow performance is just an urban legend. I was tempted to try a 16GB card a few months back but never got myself to do so because it was a case of "you try it, you buy it".

Yep same here, had an 8GB card in my P990 for quite a while now; always worked just fine.

RAM means random access. So it goes directly to any address in memory. As oppose to sequentia access. This is not a hard drive it is chip.

Without wishing to drag the thread off in a different direction and it could Possibly be, a dumb question; but what does that have to do with my post? - We were having a little side argument about whether 8GB cards work in P990's; which they do(some anyway), can't comment on larger capacities myself.

But more on topic, I quite like the look for the X1; not so keen on it being a WM device though. Might change my P990 for it.

One question I was not able to find a100% answer to... is the screen "soft" like that of the P1i or hard like the iphones? I know not really relevant, but I own P1i and an ipod touch and to be honest for some reason i prefer the ipods "hard" screen! With the P1i (also great screen) but i am always a little conscious of damaging it when using....

Thanx for any answers

I don't think you should worry about that issue. People are not going to buy this phone to take photos and make videos. If you are looking for that then you have to get a N95 or a INNOV8
