Is this big lump of a connector the only way to connect a headset to the W800/K750i?
Why have they leaved the type of connector on the K700 and P900?? |

Unless SE or another company make an adaptor (rumours have it that the W800i ships with an adaptor, id bet it doesnt though) then that is the only way.
Unless of course, the W800i supports Bluetooth Stereo.
The reason SE use that type of connector instead of a proper 3.5mm jack is firstly to force you to use SE products, and / or because a 2.5mm or 3.5mm jack uses up more space inside the phones casing than using a SE connector.

Korean phone manufacturer Pantech is showing off two new phones for the Russian market, the PG-8000 pictured] and the PG-6100. The PG-8000’s predominant feature is a 2.1-megapixel CCD camera (as opposed to the lower-quality CMOS camera in most phones), as well as built-in MP3 playing, FM radio, and Bluetooth. The PG-6100, on the other hand, has a 2.0-megapixel CMOS camera and a slightly more traditional flip phone design.
There are no release dates or prices for the Russian market yet, however, so you’ll have to keep an eye out for them if you are interested.
Kinda looks like the W800 from the back,

What an ugly phone.
CCD or CMOS, the discussion can go on forever. What counts is quality - i dont care if the K750i has a CCD or CMOS sensor as long as it can deliver good quality shots - which it does.

I dont know if this has been mentioned here already, but for those of us with K700 phones, check out http://dx-7.net/index2.php?page=displayitem.php&id=30 ,
http://dx-7.net/index2.php?page=displayitem.php&id=31 and http://dx-7.net/index2.php?page=displayitem.php&id=32.
Nothin like a W800i theme, screensaver and startup screen!
All beautifuly made from re-creating images from various promo pictures by me.
Cheers,
Deluxe.

Its not then because most headphones have no microphones and can't be used as handsfree then?

Well no, not really.
You can buy 3.5mm headphones with microphones. If the case was you absolutely could not, then id agree.
Even a 2.5mm jack uses up 2 or 3 cubic cm's of space inside the phones casing. In a phone the size of the K750i, internal space is something that SE do not have, without increasing the phone in size.

Why not consider buying a K750 then ? they're very much the same phone and 512mb MSPD sticks are quite cheap to come by on eBay now.
