Oh a scale not a balance. And why would that be more than one usage? I put everything on at once, just took the bricks off gradually. But I guess that doesn't solve the problem.

Mustafabay it is because on a scale you get a differnet reading every time you take a piece away so it is considered a different weighing.

Arrgh. I was talking about when using the balance it should count as one time usage.
As for the scale I currently have no idea.
Only one usage seems like a try your luck situation.
Couldn't you just look at the bricksI'm sure you could just tell which bricks are scraped.Note I'm just testinf with the color and have no idea what is actually going to appear.

I know this one,
You take 1 from the first pack
2 from the second
3 from the third and so on.
It should be 100 Pounds,
If its missing 3 ounces, then the third pile was stolen from. If its missing 4 ounces, then its the fourth. Etc.

Yup the idea is correct but it should only total to 55 lbs. 1 from the first pile, 2 from the second pile, 3 from the 3rd pile, and so on until 10 from the 10th pile which totals to 55 bars.
You could also use the same idea but stop at the 9th pile. It should total to only 45 lbs this way. If it's missing 4 oz. then the 4th pile is scraped, if it's missing 7 oz. then the 7th pile is scraped. But if it is exactly 45 lbs then the 10th pile is scraped.

take the first guys brick on the scale, it should be 1 pound then the next brick and the total should be 2 pounds and so on till their a difference in weight from one of the bricks.. then thats the thief and he gets hanged!!! |

Well done Yazan24 you got a point now. Blackspot I didn't think about weighing only 9 piles that is very clever as well.
Now here is a riddle made by Albert Einstein, apparently according to him 98% of teh world population wouldn't answer this. Lets see who all are in the that 2%.
PS: It took me a good 45 minutes to solve this riddle
1: There are 5 houses in 5 different colours.
2: In each house there lives a person with a different nationality.
3: Each person drinks a different type of beverage, smokes a different brand of cigar and keeps a different pet.
4: None of the persons have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar or drink the same beverage.
The question is: Who owns the fish?
Hints:
The Brit lives in the red house.
The Swede owns a dog.
The Dane drinks tea.
The green house is on the left of the white house.
The green house's owner drinks coffee.
The person who smokes Pall Mall keeps birds.
The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
The person living in the centre house drinks milk.
The Norwegian lives in the first house.
The person who smokes Blends lives next to the person who owns a cat
The person who keeps horses lives nextdoor to the person who smokes Dunhill.
The person that smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
The German smokes Prince.
The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
The person that smokes Blends has a neighbor who drinks water.
Good luck
By the way the points situation is

Here is another one if you are stuck on the Eienstein quesiton
U2 has a concert that starts in just 17 minutes and all of the band members must all cross a bridge to get there. The four men begin on the same side of the bridge and you must help them to get across to the other side.
Due the age of the bridge, only two people can cross at one time. To make matters worse, it is night-time and there is only one torch. The torch is always required when crossing the bridge and the torch must be walked back and forth, it cannot be thrown, etc. Each band member walks at a different speed and a pair must walk together at the rate of the slower man:
Bono takes 1 minute to cross
Edge takes 2 minutes to cross
Adam takes 5 minutes to cross
Larry takes 10 minutes to cross
So how could they reach the concert in time?
For example, if Adam and Larry walk across first, it takes them 10 minutes to cross. If Adam then returns with the torch , a total of 15 minutes will have passed. There is no trick behind this, it is the simple movement of resources in the appropriate order.
A good excersise for the future project managers here, I suppose

Oh and the next one I feel that you must allocate the slow ones together, as not to have them counted twice.
Um, ok, I think Bono Edge go, and Bono Returns in 3 minutes, then Larry and Adam go, and they get there in 10 minutes, 13 minutes on the clock, then edge comes back with the torch, 2 minutes, 15 minutes on the clock, then him and Bono go back in 2 minutes. 17 Minutes total.
Does it have to be less than 17 because the concert starts or 17?
