Hey Jools,
Did you "borrow"part of my original quote?
By the way, I broke down and bought the new 15 incher. It is great. Why does anyone use Windoze.

I have the same set-up as you!!
eMac 1.25Ghz, 1GB RAM, DVD-ROM/CD-RW, 80GB HD, D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth adapter... plus my trusty O2 de-branded K700i using R2AE033 firmware!

| Snap! Isn't bluetooth easy on Macs? I *tried* to set it up on a work PC and ended up trashing the OS - had to do a complete reinstall!
I realy love the K700i tho, as I said earlier, just wish SE had gone down the memory card route. If they'd done that, the K700 would be awesome and unbeatable IMHO!

@boatboy The s/w is an SE produced program that *only* works under win 2000 or higher BUT if you have vpc [virtual pc], should be no problem: I have used it successfully on a few mp3s made from songs I own [from cd] and they transfer to my k700i no problem and can be set as ringtones.
So, if you have vpc, you can get this drm converter program from here http://seth.kvalitne.cz/
If you don't have vpc, then it may be a problem
Get back to me and let me know the score...

Use Garage Band. There is also software that you can buy. I use this and Wire Tap Pro.

@sapporobaby I never thought of Garage Band for shortening mp3 files - is it easy/obvious? Any tips would be useful, TIA

You can do it in iTunes:
In iTunes, select the song you want to trim for your ringtone. Use Get Info and select the Options tab. You can then set the start and end times for the song. Close the Get Info window and then under Advanced menu select convert selection to MP3. It will create a new song in the library with only the selected portion of the song. You may need to go find it in the library. The conversion uses your MP3 bitrate setting in the Preferences for import.
Remember to reset the start and end times of the original song afterwards.

@JoolsG4 Wow! That simple Thanks for this - there's a number of songs I've got that will make excellent ringtones.
Very much appreciated.

@Wic and Jools
Good idea Jools, but I quite using this as I forgot to reset the times and screwed up a few songs. Garage band does not have this problem. There is also software: P900 Manager ( I think this is the name. I can find out if you need it) and WireTap, as well as recorder.xhead from xheadsoftware. These are pretty good products. Jools's way is quick and fast and for those that can remember to reset their song times.

Which question was that?
The "Did you "borrow"part of my original quote?" one?
If so, I didn't understand what you meant!!!

Does anyone know what the settings in Quicktime should be when you export a movie for the SE P910i? I've been experimenting a little, but I'd like to optimize the movies so they look nice and play at full speed. |

@Jools,
I swear, I was commenting on something that someone was complaining about Apple and Mac. Being a devoted Mac-head I could not stand by and let are beloved Mac come under fire. The offender was complaining that they could not get he could not get his P900 to work with a Windoze box. I commented that Apple makes things so much simpler and finished with the quote: "Macintosh and Bluetooth, a winning combination." I was a bit surprised naturally to see it posted in one of your posts. |

@sapporobaby Actually this is my sig And speaking as someone who has *tried* to set bluetooth up on a Windows system, I know of what I speak! Jools was commenting on our similar Mac systems having seen my sig.

@TheWic-meister,
This is scary. I was in another thread on Esato and I closed out my post with this. Maybe I saw it somewhere else (a post of yours) or some forces have caused us to think alike. Either way, I often wonder why or why people do not wake up and move to Mac. It took me a few years and I wish that I had done this from the beginning.
