Don't forget Z1 is best phone right now.No point announcing Z2 at CES so quickly because you know it Z1 is WORLD CLASS.
Sony will announce Z2 in MWC and ship it from March 1st.[My bet]
Sony needs to give minimum 6 months for each of its flagship.
Z1=Sep+Oct+Nov+Dec+Jan+Feb
Z2=Mar+Apr+May+Jun+July+Aug

For my own personal reasons, I hope to god(though I don't believe in this supposed superior being) that the Z1 will not release with any carrier. Two specific reasons here. One, I hate carrier branding on the phone, makes it look ugly and reeks of low quality(my opinion). Two, I have an old grandfather plan with T-Mobile that grants me unlimited data for cheap, but I'm not suppose to use it with smartphones. If the Z1 gets release with any US carrier, chances are the IMEI will be in T-Mobile's database and it would bar me from using the phone with that plan. If released with T-Mobile, guaranteed I won't be able to use the Z1 with my plan.

Because SONY usually never release their mobile phone in the US as the same time as their global launch. Probably stem from the fact that the US never gets the latest phone on time or at all up until approximately 4 years ago and SONY just doesn't have a large US market share.

MNX ha.. that happened to me with X10. i had unlimited data and then when i got X10, they cut me off. sigh.
with XS now, they don't recognize it, but the unlimited data plan for cheap no longer exists

You could've gotten it back. All you had to do is just put the sim card back into the dumb phone and go back to a ATT store to complain. Though the moment you put the sim back into the X10a, you'll get cut again .
Hence I always buy my phone outright because the money I save from my grandfather plan permits me to buy a new phone and a half every year.

@Moogoo,
What about Sony Stores?
They should at least pick it up.
It looks like it is going to be a sad story for those of us that want the Z1 in the US. From what I have heard so far T-Mobile is picking up the Z1 and the LTE model is most likely going to be T-Mobile exclusive. Just like the Z LTE. Sony will sell the C6902 model online but the LTE might not be sold unlocked. |

If that's true, than my option will only be importing it. Not like I cared for warranty anyway since I've been buying grey market phones all these years. |

As far as I know there will be no Z2 at CES. Only a few smaller devices. Z2 is planned for H2 2014. |

@Dacha - how sure are you on that information? that seems like a kick in the balls but would explain why it hasn't been updated on the sony mobile website. stupid tmobile! if that is true, they should announce it already so i can make a proper decision to import it.

@smclion102 yeah, you're right, actually MWC makes a bit more sense... but in the other hand CES is a bigger show then MWC if i'm not wrong, so who knows really...

Both of my sources are usually very accurate. One source said that T-Moblie is picking up the Z1 and the other one said that they were in talks. Basically that tells me that T-Mobile is getting it unless something goes wrong like last year with AT&T and the Z. There is always the possibility that T-Mobile get the Z1 and Sony still can sell the unlocked Z1 LTE online.
The Z1 should release in early October in the US and pre-orders should start about two weeks before release. Unless it becomes a mess like the Z release on T-Mobile.

anyone notice on one of the white papers that the USB was listed as USB3, USB3 has been around for quite some time now and would be a good improvement in transfer times |

Which one is this? I've went through the white paper from SONY Germany and I see nothing with USB3 or USB 3.0. |
