also i did make 20-25 min of calls with gprs,3g,wlan,light off every 30 sec(all off) & the battery dropped down to 68%

EDIT : is it normal for the battery?

I guess it's possible if you were connected with 3g, and the coverage wasn't very good. Sounds a bit harsh, though.

from your answers i guess, i may give a try to sony er update i guess will only change the software of organiser or phone & not the cda cpz it did recodnise as o2 so possible will do on o2 software update
so if will lock it i may say to the dealer is faulty for exange or say battery drain fast

Probably doesn't hurt to try updating with the cda that's on the phone now first.. ..is the phone supposed to be on O2?

Guess What...........

i did update it tonight

well about battery all was turn off (at my last reply)
gprs,3g,light on automatic etc
yes was low network coverage where i called but still seems i m unlucky
seems this handset drain the battery too quick

the thing i note in this version does not give me the option to turn off gprs in the internet accounts like previous version but only delete

yes is o2 well i got it from o2 (contract) & was allready set both version(preinstaled)for o2 wap,mms & wallpapers etc

lucky the handset is still unlock hehehehehe

seems little faster as well but i dont have that many expirience with the this phone
however i m playing something 4 hrs about (i charged full battery before the update earlier) & now is down to lever 80% with out call just continious using the settings again with light on & set up once again the phone as i didnt back it up so new folders all from the begin

try this
jog dial up,key *,jog dial down, jog dial down, key*,jog dial down, key*

then servise infos>sim locks
all lockeds are up

bingooooooooo

thanks mate for fast reply & advise
i took my risk lol but seems o2 provide unlocked handsets which is nice
at least with the p1i

the new software are the following
EDIT: i just plug it in to SE update straight with out try modify any software

phone cxc162037 R9J005
bluetooth cxc162143 R1D
organiser cxc162108 R6F41
cda cda162024/9 R17A

can not find it in the list of the link you post for me but in the update serv it state as p1i/c o2 uk

big thanks to all involved coz will stay like this for long time
i hightly recoment this phone
best wishes

@erwin, thanks for the reference to the ringtones. However, although I do read the Arabic script (my family tongue, Sindhi, uses this script), I don't know Farsi!

Anyway, I found the ringtones as well on the Sony Ericcson India site for the P1i. You can download message alerts, themes and images here too, although I wish there was a nice .zip file with all the tones and alerts. As it stands, you have to download them one by one, and then transfer them to the phone using SE File Manager.

..glad it worked out, babis3g. On the battery - I've been getting some strange drops on the standby sometimes - after playing a few games, the last time. The ram dropped a bit too much as well, and the transitions disappeared, and so on. After a reboot, it was back to normal again. A bit strange to get something like that after 14 days of uptime.. but I can't think of anything special I did, either..

..About the locks - the locks you see on the service menu is on the sim- card, no? So if you want to, then you should be able to use the phone without the branding.

@anil or forum users, where on the Sony Ericsson India site did you find the message alerts, themes and images? Can you provide the link? Thanks.

thank you for your time

these locks are for the handset
nothing to do with sim card
if you see network provider the lock up the handset is unlocked 100%
well i just pluged my virgin pay as you go sim into the p1i & it works

with the virgin card the menus in the p1 is more faster, i can tell coz with the o2 can take some times & up to 2 sec on some applications but with sim virgin sure faster

@SEdude,

Navigate to the MyPhone page on the sonyericsson site, after first choosing region and country.

You need to login to your account and choose your phone model, P1i in this case.

Then select themes, message tones, ringtones etc from the Fun&Downloads page.

Your URL should look something like

http://www.sonyericsson.com/f[....]l/myphone/overview?cc=in&lc=en

with 'in' replaced with your country code and 'en' with your language code.

Do a battery pull, and see what that does. If not re-update it might have have just been a bad update

Dear friends from ESATO,

Would someone perhaps know if the newest firmware version is already available for NL (Dutch 162024/54) version P1's? Thanks!
