Okey people, the last news I got today from my Sony Ericsson source is launch in Sweden week 30. That means the last weak in July and its decided.
He aslo said that his prototype of the P1i has been turned on for a whole month in a row without any restarts or error. Camera is exactly the same as K800 and the battery last much longer then the P990i.
Its really a stable software thats in it now, fast and reliable.
gaaah hope its week 30 soon....
sounds good mate, time will tell and SE will regain it's smartphone popularity imho

Probably not with this phone. That keyboard is scaring off most straight people.
There are some rumours about 's true follow-up to P990i. Eldar Murtazin brings this up in the P1 review at mobile-review.com:
The real successor to the P990i is pending, with its release date rescheduled for the turn of 2007, beginning of 2007. The handset will carry the same RAM volume as the P1, yet will come with improved CPU speed and maintain flip. The design is reminiscent of the first four models of the series
User ares at my-symbian.com does also mention this in the P990 firmware thread and he's claiming a separate source for his information.

then it's alot better i think
since we would see more UIQ phones this year than we did last year and so. with better RAM and more stable OS. yeas the keyboard is not so good, but learning new things is always better than sticking with the standards

abubasim, the fact there will be a P990 successor with traditional p series design, but much slimmer, is well known right now
still, i think the P1 will be a hit |

im keen on it - from the mobile-review review it seems to fix some of the silly issues with the 600 - but it does seem a 600 successor and not 990 to me - just from looks anyways
would be good to have a usable jog dial and some more ram |

Hey guys,
it has been confirmed months ago that the P1i is a successor to the M600.
The successor to the P990 is in the pipes (being worked on) and might come at the beginning of next year.
SE MIGHT be changing their naming convention, hence why the successor to the M600 has a become a P phone.
- The M and P series would merge into P series.
- The M series might become walkman smartphones starting from M1i (the handset is refered to as MOOI at the moment)
- For K and W series, they MIGHT release a flagship model starting from 1 and then increment the number as they release new high ends handsets.
I hope you read the "MIGHT"s which clearly express the fact that these points a re not facts but hypothesis. |

Guys of course there will be another P, P990 successor. Also because they will start making smartphones on new Symbian/Uiq! P1 has the same system P990 has. Uiq 3.1 is ready, and Symbian 9.5 is also prepared. |

Yes, I am expecting the P990 successor to be based on Symbian 9.5. IMHO, an announcement could come in early 2008 with the actual phone hitting the market Q3/4 of 2008. I see that there are logistic and legal issues as to why it should be that way. |
