Got my K800i from CPW today.......

1st impression..... an excellent phone, software seems stable so far.... have played around with the camera settings and.... it takes some great pictures.... especially in the dark.... very nice.

I recommend the K800i to anyone......

Now to purchase a M2 512MB Stick.... that is the annoying part... oh well

Why are people suprised about O2's lack of stock? Demand for the K800 was always going to be massive. My order was sent to the warehouse on Wed Jun 28 15:28:30 GMT 2006, and the order line status says it is out of stock. Quite frankly, I'd have been more suprised if it had been in stock! This is a very hyped phone and lots of people have been calling O2 on a daily basis for updates... and they are just Esato readers. O2 can only supply the handsets they are delivered, and they will not be sitting on excess warehouse stock for a giggle. Supply, demand... you don't need to be an economist to know that one is going to be higher than the other at this moment in time for this particular handset.

Now if two weeks down the line they still don't have stock for Wednesday's orders, that might be worth complaining about.

you raise some very valid points , however i think the point of concern as relates to o2 is there way of doing business which is frankly unacceptable.
Read thru the posts and you will see people have been lied to and promised, guranteed etc that handsets would be delivered at certain times. There is clear evidence that o2 are not aware of stock levels or worse are lying to consumers in order to obtain business from people that wont want the hassle of cancelling contracts when o2 dont carry out what they have promised.
If o2 had been honest from the start with people there would be less of, or even no outcry. I can promise you three people confirmed i would recieved my handset today (i say mine as i have paid for it) one person , and i quote said "i guarantee it will be delivered today" this when the phone was not even in stock , let alone paked and ready for shipping

O2 online shop down for "maintenance" meaning you cannot access the My Account & Online Services page. Wonder if they are going to ammend problems or just stick the 7 days for delivery back on the website for the K800i.

did you order it online or go in and get it?

I went into my local CPW today and the guy said they are getting them in tomorrow. They had a dummy phone which played around with for a bit very nice feel to it.

One thing i think i've noticed is that everyone who has placed an order with o2, it is actually their online side, rather than their direct side..

am i correct in saying this.. because i don't think anyone who is o2 direct (not online) has actually being able to order the phone (under normal circumstances)

O2 branding is minimal. Only O2 theme and O2 shortcut to portal in the menu.

Managed to get mine at CPW FOC, 12 month contract for £20/month. Picked up a 512mb M2 as well. Definitely no M2 card in the box.

one good thing about o2 phones is that they keep their branding to the minimum, unlike other providers...

you say their is an o2 shortcut to the portal, have they actually changed the icon for the "web" or is is generic that just loads up the o2 portal?
thanks

I suspect that they have replaced the Play Now icon with a O2 wap link, thats what they normally do.
Is the o2 branded phones also unlocked?

normally all o2 phone are unlocked any network apart from PAYG
