From that video however, the QWERTY keypad appears to have gone from opaque rubber & blue backlight keys, to transparent K700i style white back lit keys..
Better IMO.

I'm not sure how long the interest for the P990 can be sustained as many new products with similar capabilities are entering the market now. |

In Afghanistan,Iran,Iraq,Syria,Palestine and other middle east/moslem countries the P910i only come out early this year (It is certainly easier to tippe in Arabic on a Pxx cell then on any other smart phone out there - no wonder the 910i come first)

www.katching.se in Sweden is saying February 28th. I doubt it will be released in any country this year.

The P990's I've used may be far from finished, but the processor speed is going to be a cause for concern. Fortunately, the current Windows Mobile 5 devices are also pretty slow and the Nokia Communicator products (including the 9300i, as and when it is announced) are very slow too.
As soon as something comes out that is much faster then all of these devices will suffer. I don't know about the speed of the new Nseries products (e.g. N80) but the biggest thing for SE is to get more UIQ 3 devices out there - and for UIQ to get more people releasing products using their interface. Otherwise UIQ will fall by the wayside next to Series 60 and Windows Mobile. |

I concur, the P990 is being released too late in the market. |

WTF man??? I see it has that quickoffice s**t. SE doesn't read this forum? Come on man, if this soft is offered as a bonus, I have nothing to say, but if it means a higher price for this product, then I kindly ask them to offer me an P990D ( Documents to go ). I'm not promoting anyone, but let's be serious: Documents to go is far, far, far way batter than Quickoffice!!! SE has an contract with Quickoffice or what? Now I'm really pissed off! |

Obviously they do have a contract with Quickoffice, yes.
Speaking as someone who uses Documents to Go and agrees it's better than Quickoffice, I think it's good news that SE are bundling Quickoffice with the P990. First and foremost, it means that UIQ3 will be launching with at least one serious productivity app, and secondly the P990 will be MS-Office compatible straight out of the box - that's important.
IF Documents to Go is also available for UIQ3 at launch (not at all certain) and assuming it's still better than the new and improved Quickoffice, then people have the choice to upgrade too - even better. Healthy competition between the two apps continues, and everyone's a winner. Whats the problem? |

@jmcomms, having used the old P910i and using the O2 XDA Exec I make the following observations:
- with BT on a JJ/Exec will struggle to give you one days use from a full battery charge, one day would be no problem for the P910 and if the P990 lasted 1.5 days I would be happy if it were a bit slow
- the JJ can be very slow but the XDA Exec in "corporate" mode is very quick
- the main problem with the JJ is the low user memory, RAM memory leak and a lowish amount of RAM
- the P990 will have document viewers, which I think is better in some ways then editing facilities. The JJ only has a PDF viewer
- the JJ cannot be used as a USB drive, while I belive this will be possible with the P990
I will be using the P990 with my Exec as the Exec is not really a phone but a very advanced and hghly connected PDA

Questions to a source on Three Sweden concerning the Sony Ericsson P990i:
Price:
About. 1495sek($178) with Three's mini-subscription, 1000sek($119) with medi-subscription, 495sek($59) with maxi-subscription, 0sek ($0) with mega-subscription.
For more informations about the subscriptions - http://www.tre.se/templates/SubscriptionPlanStart.aspx?id=253
When will the Motorola A1010 arrive to Three?
Motorola A1010 is discontinued.
Will Sony Ericsson P990i arrive before the turn of the year?
Forget it, Q1 2006, looks like it will be very late, around march/april.
The source on this information is the president for Three Sweden and the chief of products for Three Sweden, the statements were internal. From last week (v.44).

Well the saying goes, all good things come to those whom wait; The OS may be more efficient with processes than the old system. So you gotta think what else can be affected. The API's are going to be very very different hence the incompatibility with the new OS with current apps. Nobody has said this and I wonder if I'll be right. Apples new OS X is by far more efficient than OS 9, given the same early OS X/OS 9 dual boot on 3 yr old Apple comps.
But just to keep you interested here is a link I happened upon from another thread/site...
