I've always wanted the silver, but, I bought into one of those bogus news stories about only black being available. I just requested a change to silver from expansys. Hopefully they can do so easily.

About your ppi numbers--they seem kind of huge...shouldn't you be using a square root somewhere in your calculations? For example, this would achieve 72dpi, 300dpi, and so on.
Oh man, you have insight. The table posted is just a fraction of broader analysis I been working on.
Yes the square root most of the times is equal to the linear dpi. but not always. (pixels are not always square) so I believe area dpi reflects the real quality of the screen.
For instace: See a case of same resolution different dpi:
Omnia width = 1.65" --pixels 240
Instinct width =1.52" --pixels 240
See here the linear dpi based on the square root:
................px/sq in...avg dpi
Xperia......96898......311
Touch Pro.86735......295
Touch HD..60202......245
Bold..........49383......222
NokiaE90..48022......219
iPhone......26995......164
Instict.......25235......159
Omnia......21206......146
Hope this helps

Thanks, I forgot about pixel shape being a factor. |

Well, I'm not going to be against 384MB of RAM
It would be nice to know exactly what prompted the additional increase though.
WhyBe, anything but 340.
The reason is that 340 is not a true binary number. So forget it. Most probably it is 384, a multiple of 16. 128MB i't's multiple of 16 so 384 plus 128 = 512MB

Hi Guys, just a quick question. I have never bought anything from expansys, so I am not sure how their pre-order stuff works. I pre-ordered a X1 from their UK site. While it has been announced by SE that the phone will be out in UK at the 30th sept, it still haven't been updated by expansys on their webpage.
Just wondering the chances of them having the phone at the end of the month, since I wanted to change my phone for a while because of it's issue after having the main board replaced.
Also, some details that I still cannot confirm for the UK version is, what 3G frequency band will the SE X1 support? I've have read many sources which all seems to tell different stories, and from the expansys site it listed UMTS 850/900/1700/1900/2100 which I think is wrong.
Could anyone verify that? Thanks very much.
Regards,

Since everyone on Earth seems to be ordering the X1i from there, we may not get it until January 2009 anyways

X1i supports 900/1900/2100 for HSPA
X1a supports 850/1900/2100 for HSPA

Thanks for the information.
Please forgive me if this sounds like a noob question:
For X1a model, the video recorder only supports QVGA and 24 fps.
Is this just a firmware issue that we may be able to change it to X1i's firmware in order to get a higher video recording quality, OR X1a and X1i simply have different hardware? |

X1a has the MSM7201a which restricts the higher quality video. The X1i uses the MSM7200 which doesn't have the restrictions.
aksd knows more about the processor differences than I. Maybe he'll provide more details. |

Those who are planning on getting the X1
which one are y'all getting?
Silver or Black?
I think the Silver looks really nice, but I am waiting till November or December as I want to see how many problems this thing has before I invest any of my money in it, I am particularly suspisiouse of how long it will be before the slider gets slack and wobbly like my N95 did!
However I suspect my CEO will be asking me to get him one the second it comes out! So I should have a good idea as too whether the thing is any good by then.
Does anyone know what the max capacity Micro SD card the X1 will support? as the 16Gb ones are available at a good price now, but I remember the debacle with 8Gb cards and the P990 e.g. mine would never accept one! Ho Hum life is never easy as a customer.
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

I remember reading 32GB being the limit. Not too sure though since there are no bigger ones to test the theory. |

I was initially thinking black, but after seeing videos and the like its definately gotta be silver! I think the silver in the keyboard makes it the choice...
gonna wait until after release before I take the plunge, my MD is looking to get one straight away so i'll be able to have a look and play...
in terms of release, SE say it will begin to ship as of 30/09... i.e. it will begin to ship to supplier rather than be in the shops... I reckon you'll be looking at the first couple of weeks of october for it to be delivered to consumers (and also stores)... |

One thing i don't like about the silver one: the black "x" buttons underneath the screen. bothers me more then the silver querty on the black version. Really want to order one now but can't decide which colour to take... |

it shouldn't have any problem with a 32GB card.
the memory architecture of sdhc can address up to 32GB of memory.
