at the end of the day, if the IQ is super good then thats all that matter. Anyone know if BOINZ is an on and off function for the Cybershot camera? Wonder if there is a comparison with and without it. |

Ah cheers for that didn't know it had those options in the 8MP mode.
Not sure why there is no 3200iso in 20mp mode, perhaps software limitation or something isn't enabled yet? |

@gitaroo - indeed.
These are my personal WANTS for Z1 camera features. Hope they come in an update in the near future (with 4.3 hopefully!) Obviously, improved image quality and processing is a given.
- shutter speed control
- aperture control
- high resolution sweet panorama
- 3D panorama
- ISO control up to 3200 in 20mp mode
- White balance tweaking (e.g., choose a preset then be able to refine it further +/-, or even custom white balance using a sample photo)
- 4K video recording (great to have but not really needed)
- more "gimmicky" yet fun features, like the AR feature, which is gimmicky at best but fun to use.

hopefully I can snap more photos during seminar with the blinds open this time.
@moogoo, can the aperture even be changed on the Z1? I thought it was a fixed F2.0 and you can't change it like on interchangeable lenses?

4K is a must have for me, especially it seems like 4K tablet might be right around the corner next year. And after seeing the difference in 4k vid downsampling to 1080p screen like note 3. Basically all all selling point from i5s, G2, note 3, video recording features such as 1080p 60fps, 4k should be in Z1 especially when the hardware seems to be capable. And for god sake Sony you made the sensors for all of them, should know their specs when you were designing the Z1. 18mp and 16 mp manual, and a 13MP superior auto mode should also be added. Right now the camera in Z1 feels like any camera on smartphone with the exception of a 20 MP mode. Didn't Xperia S also have a 360 degreephotoshere kind of thing. And where is that?! |

it is technically fixed focused, but i would think you could still change the aperture? my prime lens on my dslr is a f1.8 but i can adjust it to anything above that as well. i'm not sure if that translate to phone cameras though, but if we are able to adjust shutter speed, then i don't see why we can't adjust aperture too?
@gitaroo
if you're talking about sweet panorama - yes XS had it. 360 photosphere is a 3rd party app. 3D panorama hasn't been on any Xperias as far as i know. Neither has high-res panorama. I'd like the latter two to be added and 13mp superior auto would be nice. and if 4K is a must have for you, perhaps getting a Z1 was premature since there's no guarantee it will get it..

Yeah, it was just a rumor, but after S3 there is no way I will ever consider a samsung device ever. Theres also one feature that I keep forgetting is RAW support. Saw the topic from neogaf that Nokia is adding RAW support reminded me that. |

indeed. raw support would be nice, though if it spit out impressive JPEGs, i could live without it.

png support would be a lot better too while we are at it. |

I feel you'd need aperture blades in order to change the aperture. Such blades are present on prime lenses and other types of lenses but this is lacking in the Z1 camera
http://img.ibtimes.com/www/data/images/full/2013/09/24/411989.jpg
so the aperture is fixed at F2.0 |

very well could be. a lens can be fixed or variable.
i guess that's one of my wishes that is just not possible

I wonder how long it will take to record a 41Mpix image in RAW using that S4 cpu.. A Snap 800 would've been a much better match for the 1020.
My guess would be around 6-7 seconds.
The Z1 shouldn't have a problem with 20Mpix + Snap 800

yeah, I think now it takes 3-4 seconds to save jpeg @ 40 MP for the lumia, so even longer for RAW? Z1 should be a no problem maybe only you are saving into a slow SD card. |
