@Kryptik Thanks for the eBook reader. My children like the short stories you send :-) I thought is very tiring to read on such a small screen (7650) but Alas, the human brain never stops to surprise me - how quickly does adapt to it.After a short while I totally forget I am reading from a 2in screen. Now do you know where to get more ebooks (for free if possible) ?

@ mario,
If you would like to receive all the series 60 material that I got from the Smartphone Show this afternoon,PM me your postal address.
Don't worry about postage.

@ all,da Wanqsta will be uploading images in due course.
Had a chance to fiddle with Hermy the P990 at the SE stand, play with a N70 and N90 and fondle a prototype 3250.
No sign of the N91...
Will provide loadsa details in the forthcoming posts; I'm still reeling.

@the krypsta: I'm so bloody envious right now I don't know what to do.
Thankfully I've got ample time to make my mind up for a replacement for my precious...everyday I hear/see what people are doing with their smartphones I feel tempted.

The main entrance, similar too masseur's pics, obviously. Symbian in the background, directly behind the busy (busier..) Series 60 stand...

Smaak it stukkend! Happy Wanqy holding Hermy, with his trusty P900 in close proximity for comparison.

Playing around with a N90 and N70.The N70 is not yet commercially available in the UK. Notice the black anti-theft, cellphone-retaining cords on these fully operational demo models.
More deatails on these handsets later.

Prototype 3250 that Mikko from Nokia,at the S60 stand, let me play around with. This was (provisionally)his personal handset, until he puts the next prototype model through its paces!

More to follow later.

A closer comparison, although the P990 is obviously a bit more in the foreground.
Etienne at the SE stand was particularly helpful. That P990 keypad is a doddle to use compared to the more miniscule P910's.
My P900 will be due for retirement early next year, after a pretty good innings.

Etienne showing me the P990's camera quality and features.

Etienne showing us the various features and aspects of one of the P990's at the show.

Part of the SE exhibit.

More pics to follow later...better get back to work now.
Laterz, y'all.

Hey buddy thanks for offering some S60 'stuff' I will PM you my postal address right away.I hope it I will get it because postal theft is a huge problem here in SA :-( Now how do you like the P990 ? I can't decide between it and the N91.Software and price may be the deciding factor.I like symbian in general and S60 'user face' in particular, but the UIQ face does't come far behind.Do you think a relatively slow 208mhz chip is fast enough for a 'advanced' P990? Any news about pricing ? And finally any news about the 7650's sequel - the N80 ? Thanks once again for the offer. Greetings from Jeffreys :-)

@ mario,
If you prefer,my nephew flies home to SA next month.I can then get my sister to forward the goodies to you via PostNet once he's back in East London.Don't worry, they are ultra-reliable;no 'ja-broers.'

Let me know what you would prefer, but if you can wait another month, it will obviously be the better/safest option.

I'm not sure if the 208mhz processor will suffice or not; I am no fundi on processors as such, but it should do the trick;there is a lot on the line if SE get this handset wrong,I would imagine....
It did take the P990 quite long just to activate the camera, which resulted in Etienne switching the phone off, taking the battery out and rebooting the phone. He did re-iterate that it is still just one of the initial prototypes.Second attempt at accessing the camera and viewfinderwas much quicker,as I initially anticipated.

Absolutely no word on price yet,not even a hint.

I maybe should've asked Mikko, one of the top Nokia reps at the S60 exhibit, about the N80. It was not on show, unless it was in another top Nokia exec's pocket...
If I find out more,I'll let you know.

I must get back to work now, will post more, probably tomorrow. I have a mountain of wretched admin waiting for me!
Yet another late night beckons...

@wanqsta: Nice pics. I take it your sold on the P990. I guess once you've played with it all misgivings about the design and the screen size disappeared.

@ brix,
Correct. Not that I personally had any initial pre-conceived misgivings of the phone in the first place, as you might have ascertained from any mention I have made regarding the handset, in any of my previous posts, but I know you are probably referring to most people who did have.
Brixsta, price is a big deciding factor for me.
I have a lot of other interests that also consume my finances;a Z-rated,soft compound 190 section superbike rear tyre is the price of a good PAYG cellphone alone.
If the P910's drop radically in price once the P990 is readily available, then I might go down that route than pay 2 to 3 times more for the latest offering,as much as I like it and would love to own one.

I am a frugal bugger, but maybe if there is a very attractive contract deal with a P990 next year,I might just get one sooner than expected next year.
We'll have to see what deals are dangled in front of my nose in about 3 or 4 months or so...

@ 786KBR,
Actually the 990 is a whopping mm or so smaller! Masseur has got the comparitive dimensions in his Smartphone Show thread.Althouh the 2 phones were pretty much held in line with each other, the photograph taken by the Yank for us at the stand is slightly from the left hand side, not exactly head-on,so it just looks bigger.
Optical illusion,it seems.
