Larger sensor needs more space and larger optics. |

Yes...?
Isn't this a well known thing?

he was referring to my post on the previous page.
1/2.4 vs 1/2.3 is a really small difference but I feel sony should stick to 1/2.3. Expecting a one inch sensor would be too much since it would make the phone too thick for most people but instead, add a small bump and use a slightly larger sensor, perhaps 1/1.8 like on the nokia N8. Personally I'd sacrifice the omnibalance design and thinness for a slightly thicker design, be it 8mm or more and a hump to incorporate a larger sensor, 2/3" like nokia 1020. Sony and others will argue if you want a larger sensor camera why not opt for the QX cameras, which would be nice except they are a bitch to use, slow and not convenient at all. |

There's barely any diference between 1/2,3 and 1/2,4, Sony had a reason to marginally shrink IMX220's replacement. I'm pretty sure IMX230 is more capable sensor than IMX220. 8-9mm in Z5/Z5+ combined with OmniBalance design would be too much, they'd feel much bigger and heavier than they really are.

So it seems that the new emerging mobile companies ironically have good benefits to Sony on its camera division.
Sony has the highest RND in mobile camera sensors and modules right now and clearly ahead. I really wonder how the mobile division would benefit from this.
I mean would Sony be willing to risk, reserving its best product to Xperia or go the easy route, sell it to others and have easy cash and do all the work?
I've said it and I'll say it again, Sony are using the xperia range for R&D for camera sensors etc and also to show to other companies what they can do (to sell the sensors to other companies).
This is their strategy, I believe, this is why they're more interested in profitability than high sales figures - this then covers some of the cost of the R&D, pretty smart when you think about it.

Back panel with gold frame ? That is good design.
Dual led for back camera is interesting but no for front camera...

@BenLing
Nice concept, better then most i have seen. to improve, make the top and bottom symmetrical, the bottom one look slightly bigger. front flash is not a bad thing to wish but not so realistic. |

Looks great, but if it were to happen, first the cameras would have to be further apart, most likely the front facing camera positioned more toward the in center and then the top bezel would have to be much taller like on the new M5.
Wonder how long before your concept hits the other sites, being described as the new flagship leaked. |

Liquid-Cooling For Seriouslay Overkill Smartphones "the rig is less the 1 millimeter thick" "...without any additional drain on the battery power".
I see only benefits especially for s810 smartphones in long gaming and such. very cool.
