Anyone heard anything about the new SmartWatch? I'm curious to know if Sony will stick with the sportier look they went with in SW3, or if they'll go for a classier look. Also curious to see if they stick with the squarish screens, or jump on the round bandwagon. |

I really hope that Sony will include wireless charging. I personally think, wireless charging should be common thing. I don't understand why less interest in wireless charging.
and, I'm hoping new smartwatch as well to replace my SW2 and hope it will come with wireless charging. This will be very convenient for smartwatch.

Wireless charging would be more convenient but... what about it performance ?
I prefer wired charging with quicker charge |

Maybe the issues with the antenna will be a big challenge to overcome, but engineers will find ways to make it work . For licensing cost, who own the license? Qi ? I'm working with a team on a wireless charging shoe insole and we are not paying any licensing fee.
I would prefer wires charging with quick charging time and wireless charging

wouldn't it be better if phone can be charged by cell signals? |

I'm not sure it is possible or not. The cell signals itself consume huge power. The most can be done is to reduce the power consumed by the signals.

Nikola Tesla managed to wirelessly transmit DC electricity over large distances, but his work was considered insane at the time and rejected in favour of AC delivery and cables. No-one has managed to replicate his technologies nor decipher his encrypted had written notebooks. Transmitting electricity through networks is a non starter. If it could happen national grids would use wireless electricity to evenly and efficiently cover the country instead of building thousands of miles of pylon after pylon.

A new smartwatch would be a no brainer, samsung has their new round watch for IFA and it is rumoured that LG also will have one, with a higher resolution, 480x480 now. No idea if the new moto 360 will be at ifa or introduced elsewhere.
As for wireless charging, it would be nice but I would prefer quick charge as well. Sony is part of Qi so they could just use that like they did with the Z4V which is still not out yet and now supposedly to launch on september 3rd.
If more places in poland, ie bars, restaurants, airports, train stations, etc had places for wireless charging, be it a desk or whatever, then I would be all for it, but until then, It is not a feature I need personally. |

Little history about sony's xperia z4.
Sony seriously considered WQHD display for Z4
but they dropped wqhd model at the last moment because of SD810 was not powerful enough to support them.
Recently leaked 4K model was originally considered to launch with Z4 but sony dropped it too
because sony was not satisfied with capacity and quality of display.

looks like it's not true story because z4v released with wqhd screen.it doesnt matter if sd810 isnt powerful enough for 4k , it has 4k support , games and apps rendering @lower resolution according to rumors (they will use 4k x-reality tech for upscale). |

"Yole forecasts that the CIS industry will reach $10B this year, with Sony remaining the undisputed world leader --mainly at image sensor level, but gaining strong momentum at camera module level too. And what will Sony’s $4B be used for? Probably to increase capacity, enhance R&D efforts, and further widen the gap between its competitors. It may also be used in applications that will generate a firm lead in automotive, and to develop sensing technologies for consumer and automotive applications. With this bold financing move, Sony is leveraging its leading technology position and demonstrating the confidence it has in its products, its technology, and its future.
Sony is increasing in strength, and there’s little the competition can do to counter its growth."- i-micronews
So it seems that the new emerging mobile companies ironically have good benefits to Sony on its camera division.
Sony has the highest RND in mobile camera sensors and modules right now and clearly ahead. I really wonder how the mobile division would benefit from this.
I mean would Sony be willing to risk, reserving its best product to Xperia or go the easy route, sell it to others and have easy cash and do all the work? |

xperiablog just posted this via digi-wo

So is 4k going to happen on the Z5+? While the new IMX230 is a great sensor and can do 4k@30fps. I feel sony can do better and bring a larger sensor to the z5+ but from the leaks it appears this will not be the case. |
