Vita OS phones might be out by next year Q4 or in 2014. It's still not completely finalized yet. Vita OS is a backup prepared by Sony just to be safe in the phone business.
vivftp, you won't see anything NEW related to Crystal LED at IFA. You need to wait more for that. But there will be a new flagship Bravia and other really awesome Sony gadgets at the show. New 3D stuff as well
Also, who wants Sony to start the megapixel race again in 2013?
Those who say No, sorry but Sony isn't listening to you
Not a direct competitor really, but we will see a short answer to Nokia 808 pureview by Sony.

Ahh, yeah, that might be too far away for me to wait to buy a new mobile phone. If that is accurate, I'll likely get a 5"+ phone early next year. So long as it's got a top notch screen and toss in some Cybershot optics, I think I'll be happy enough.
As for the TVs, yeah the XBRHX950 will be coming. Don't know how much of an improvement it'll be over the HX929 though. I remember earlier in the year shortly after CES some websites were mentioning the possibility of seeing more CLED at IFA, which is why I was hoping to see it. Ah well, I hope it really won't be that much longer until we see CLED TVs hit the market. From what I understand the TVs are built sorta like lego with small CLED "chips". They've already demo'd a 55" 1080p prototype, which means they could use those exact same screen components and build a 110" 4K TV! I want a 100+" TV dag nabbit! I doubt we'll see CLED miniaturized down for mobile devices, but if they could somehow pull it off that would be a mighty nice thing I imagine.
EDIT.
Just saw your additional info. I don't mind them starting a megapixel race so long as the results are good. I suppose it'll all depend on the size/quality of the sensor they put in there and their software to process it. Given Sonys reputation for camera sensors and specifically mobile phone camera sensors, I figured they'd be the ones to give the Pureview a run for its money. Hopefully whatever phone it's attached to will be a nice high end one, rather than the relatively dismal specs that came with the Pureview.

I think we are going off topic so let's continue this over PM or we can discuss it in the Sony Non Mobile Discussion thread. I'll answer your question there.
EDIT:
Yes it will be on the Sony Xperia flagship.
LEt's call it Xperia S successor

PM sent, thanks!
As it's more on-topic, any news on the VAIO tablets? Based on info I'd read somewhere, it doesn't look like we'll see a VAIO tablet until next year as Microsoft has only a select group of companies releasing Windows tablets this year. |

There will be VAIO Win8 tablets this year. On sale around October.
At least AFAIK. Unless there is some drastic change in plan or Microsoft has asked Sony to NOT sell its Win8 tablets that are ready, after spending so much cash on R&D. |

Microsoft only limit the Window 8 RT tablet which will use ARM chips
But for the regular Window 8 which uses x86 chips, so i don't see a problem that prevent Sony from making Vaio Tablet
For me, i rather choose the Regular Win 8 rather than the RT version cuz i can have full Win experience with x86 chip

Sound fun.
I hope it will have a large sensor enough when compare to Pureview 808.

Imagine if it uses the sensor and camera tech from the RX100!!!!
Naturally it won't be AS good as the RX100 without the amaizng lens. Going by randomusers statement though, I imagine it'll be a newly designed sensor, likely built on the stacked CMOS tech. Maybe a bit bigger with a much higher megapixel count? 20mp or 24mp? We'll have to wait and see.
EDIT.
I do wish it were possible for Sony to make a dual boot tablet for Android and Windows. I can already see myself in a situation where each tablet will have a feature I want, and I'll be disappointed for only choosing one

There will be better quality lenses used with better aperture. And improved low light performance.
And guys hold your horses
I only said a short answer to 808 pureview. Its not gonna be a serious competitor to the pureview in any way. It won't use a 20/24mp sensor and nor will it be a huge sensor.
Keep your expectations lower please. Haha

Apologies, but this tsunami of information you've been kind enough to share is enough to get any Sony fan excited

Hey randomuser, I know most guys here are excited for the high-ends next year, but do you have some details about the upcoming mid-range/low-end phones? |

I glad to see Sony seriously take on mobile market as well as TVs Camera Notebook etc.
Xperia S still satisfy me with this proven quality, I would wait as you recommendation 4Q 2013.
btw, @randomuser
you still don't answer my question about Sony Xperia S
that combine both outstanding screen technology
(LTPS + In-Cell-Touch)
Is it real deal?

I wonder with all the various tablets Sony are going to release if they will have a followup to the Tablet P that fixes the flaws of the original. It would have to involve a flexible OLED display, but Sony have been working on those for many years and even announced one not too long ago, although it wasn't of the highest resolution.
If I did have to make a wish on a Sony product I think could take the mobile market by storm, it'd be a phone/tablet all in one. Basically picture 2 Galaxy notes slapped together with a single display on one side for phone use, but when you want to have a larger screen for tablet use you just fold it open like the Tablet P and presto! Single large screen tablet inside! Yeah, yeah, I know we're still a fair bit off from such a device, but of all the companies out there, I think only Sony and Samsung are likely to be the first to put one on the market. I'm just hoping it'll be Sony. |

@HxH
As I mentioned earlier In Cell touch is not really a screen technology that has anything to do with image quality. It only means the need of a separate touch panel is eliminated.
And the panel type used in the Xperia S is LTPS manufactured by Toshiba Mobile Displays.
@itsjustJOH
Sorry buddy, don't have much info on mid/low end for next year.
