You pair phones so you can send trusted items between the two of them.

Simply sending something by Bluetooth does not need pairing, why on earth would it ?

I did a scan in the bank today, I'm pretty sure the only thing that came up was an apple computer somewhere. I'm not sure if it was a laptop in someones bag or in the bank itself, but it was showing something like a dozen available services... If it was the bank then they're living dangerously.

I work right beside a starbucks so I do a scan every now and then to see if anyone is open, then send them a message telling them to turn their bluetooth off least I hack 'em

hehe! Talk about paranoia!

I leave mine on all the time. What is there to be afraid of? I don't use an s60 device so I'm immune to the two phone viruses that are out there. I certainly wouldn't accept files from a stranger so I'm in no danger of anything.

I could hide my bluetooth I suppose, but then I forget when I'm trying to pair with someone and stuff around until I remember that my bluetooth is hidden!! So I just leave it on for convenience.

I think he was also referring to bluesnarfing risks.

But most new phones are not vulnerable to older bluesnarfing techniques. They may be vulnerable to some undiscovered Bluetooth security loop holes, but none that we're aware of yet or ever will be.

I don't believe the K750 is susceptible to bluesnarfing?

None of the current bugs or loopholes no.

But theres always the chance of new security issues being discovered, of which it and other phones might be vulnerable to.

A Google web definition:

A security flaw in Bluetooth that could allow an attacker to access and copy information stored on a mobile phone without the user's knowledge has been dubbed "bluesnarfing." Any information stored on a phone -- like contact lists or e-mail and text messages -- are at risk in a bluesnarfing attack

Basically its a bit like hacking, but with Bluetooth and mobile phones.
