@Kryptik Thanks for coming up for me buddy :-) I don't read this forum often.I like to read Tahir's and Brix's postings every few days thou. You know,I like to say/write what I see (and IMHO I am a fairly good observer) on the other hand Brix writes what it will sell best ;-) No wonder we have the jobs we have. (please Brix don't take the above serious.Your comments do alot for this forum :-)

That's exactly why i enjoy this thread, the interaction between ppl is addictive. Whether we all agree on a subject, or some of us differ is immaterial. The fact that we're here is what makes this thread what it is. And yep, i'm happy to stick up for any 1 of you guys. Just don't anybody ask me to bend forward hehehe, nasty mind i've got this early in the morning.

Got the house, btw. With any luck everything should go thru within a coupla weeks, hopefully move in by November.

@kryptic: congrats on the house!

@mario: Brix does seem to have a clearly analytical/critical mind. Must be the journalist in him, ey? I havent had much interaction with you or the rest of the team, but I can hazard a guess that you cant be much different from brix, seeing you're a cop.

@kryptic: what do you do?

@kryptik: That's an awesome job you have there! The chance to help mould the future. I hope you really love and enjoy doing it, because this world needs more people in that category.

I own a small IT business that's into web hosting and mobile data/mobile office consultancy.

Yep, i love teaching, especially younger kids. Taught high school for a while, went back to the little ones. No two days are ever the same! (will i get the daily headache before 9a.m today? ) But seriously, it's fun, and ultimately rewarding as well.

I can just imagine. Ihave given thought to getting involved with kids in some way. Our edu system in Naija leaves a lot to be desired and I shudder at the idea of my kids growing up under that. So, maybe if I do a little something about it, it may make enough difference. Who knows....?

@AYA, the key to the future lies in reading, reading and yet more reading. IMHO it's the single biggest gift a parent can give, to impart the love of books to a child. I thank God my daughter has taken after her parents in that she's a bookworm as well.

It's quite a struggle imparting that same love of books to the kids at school and at my church. How else can one convince a child to read when the parents don't even read newspapers, let alone books... It's sad. How old are your kids, AYA?

My kids are 3+ years and 10 months respectively.

You are very correct about reading being key. I happen to read widely and intensively, and my son seems to have taken to that as well.

And yes, its quite difficult when parents do not read. It seems a problem common at both our ends. Mom is a veteran educationist and complains about the reading culture (or a lack of it) in the society.

By the way, I pastor too, and I can tell you its a hearculian task to even get church folks to read their Bibles!

If i'm not mistaken i heard something on the radio about a new 60second or 60minute Bible. Maybe that's what they need?

A very good friend of mine has a son who's 3years old. The little one can't read or write yet but he can type his name on the pc so quite possibly that's another avenue which needs to be explored/exploited.

My son cant read that much yet, but he cant keep away from books! My wife keeps saying its because of my addiction to books. He loves playing with my PC's keyboard and mouse too (you would think he could use them!).

I read about the SMS Bible thing in Australia. Could help, but methinks there is a need for personal commitment to reading. My church sends out a daily SMS devotional to members, but I dont see that as an alternative to personal study.

The PC and mobile phone are plausible tools in developing a reading culture though. Books are scarce and expensive here. But at least lots of people have mobile phones.

Given time it could very well prove to be the solution, AYA. There are loads of sites with thousands of public domain ebooks, all totally free...

@Tahir: What's misleading about MTN using iBurst in an Apple iBook? Even the WirelessMonkey uses Sentech's MyWireless in his Apple iBook. The issues seems to be with Apple...try using your Vodafone 3G card with the any Apple device and you'll come back telling me something else.

You'd think that Apple would be more flexible/accomodating in that regard...
