Got my on T-mob UK yesterday and have been playing with it since.

Initial impressions:

Very fast UI, no noticeable lag.
Screen very sensitive, takes a while to get used to.
65K screen is excellent colour wise even thou it's 65K.
Feels a lot lighter than it looks.
Battery seems to be holding out pretty well.
Camera very good, I don't think it's on par with the C905 but the few snaps I have taken are very good, and bearing in mind the photos I have taken are under cloudy skies.
Lack of MT not an issue at all - browser is very slick and the "preview pane" zoom in the browser makes up for lack of MT.

Today i've decided to test out the battery to its limits. I'll watch movies, listen to music, and do as much with the phone as i possibly can just to see how the battery holds out. Later on i'll let u guys know the results.

Hi guys. I saw this on SE Dev World yesterday. Cool Android UI Features Coming soon to your apps for X10 mini. http://developer.sonyericsson.com/wportal/devworld/article/newsandevents-latestnews-x10tutorialsteaser?cc=gb&lc=en . This might apply to the X10 aswell if they both have the same screen hardware! Check out the video - very COOL! Also to the guys that got their X10's, could you please report if you can make Bluetooth voice dialling like on previous SE phones? Thanks!

that's a pretty old video. BUT... i do hope they add the little eyecandy tweaks to the X10's timescape. I don't think I remember seeing the tiles bounce and pop like on the mini.

Also, I'd love to be able to scroll through photos on a 3D wall like that (coolris style). Would be good if they could also implement pre-caching of photos so you don't have to wait for the photo to load when you're just flipping through.

That'd be greatly appreciated Bankai123. My main reason for getting an X10 is that my 14 month old iPAQ 910c can't hold a charge when stressed with anything even moderately energy intensive (such as listening to MP3s or using 3G or WiFi data). So knowing how well the X10 does in regards to battery life is essential to me.

Just to let you guys know, I asked Sony through various means to clarify whether the screen is 16M color capable and whether the screen is 'mineral glass' or simply 'scratch resistant'. I got this reply via Twitter about an hour ago:

16m colors, no. 65,000 colors (I counted myself) - yes mineral glass

So that clears those questions up.

Mine is EU stock... It came with a Pouch Case and X2 Screen Protectors...

I am using the X10 with Voda UK and the Internet is FAST... So far not noticed any lags on the phone and I am currently adding a few apps to it... Will be putting in a 16GB card for music and videos... (Not tested sound quality yet... Will be using the X10 with my Bose headphones so hope I get decent sound quality)

I transfered music and pictures via bluetooth from another handset... worked great

@ Saltorio

I think the C905 also had mineral glass. Actually I was amazed at the screen on the C905, I've had mine a year and half and no scratches on the screen (and you can clearly see the keys have those worn little scratches on). I think the C905 was the first phone I where the screen didn't get those wear and tear scratches over time. I hope the X10 is the same.

The K770 also had mineral glass over the screen. Mine spent two years in a pocket with keys and didn't have one scratch on the screen.

the keyboard was a sorry sight though.

For me that doesn't quite clear it up yet..
At the moment it only handles 65k, but should be capable of 16m.. In the future when 2.x comes to the x10, right?

I can't find it anywhere, but I thought that SE confirmed that.. Somebody?

I've seen the difference between those two, this can't be true..

Good to see that stock is flowing and people are enjoying the handset, also that we are almost completely on-topic..

I got this e-mail from SE shop today, some good(ish) offers I think and a free DAB radio to boot.

http://wize1.co.uk/7U9-47IB-441BU9PV88/cr.aspx

Would love to know from those including Tejstar who have had access to the MW600 whether the VAD works well?

Back to O/T just for a moment, Boing yes I did mention the iPhone, only because it seems to me that the X10 is being highly criticised for HW features that it seems not everyone wants, or will notice are missing. The iPhone has been successful in-spite of undeniably lesser HW specs on paper, because the overall experience is what people enjoy. In the same way I feel that this may well be the case with the X10, most people who have used it seem to credit it with a similar WOW factor in use.

Saying that the lack of MT and the Android version isn't crucial is directly related to this, it's not a fanboy defense of the phone or of SE... I would have loved this to be running Froyo and touting a Claearpad 3000.. I just think that for a large chunk of the mainstream market, how the phone performs out of the box will be more important than updated OS or apps. This doesn't mean that there might not be apps which X10 users will unfortunately dip out on, or excuse SE for it... It's just a fact... In many cases a lot of users probably don't even know, or care what OS or version thereof their phone runs..Sure I remember FW Updates from about my P800/P900 but with most phones it's just something in the background that you do because it's recommended.
The shame is that Android does open up phones to people who love to tinker and install other apps etc. And these people will be let down by the lack of MT and any issues this may raise with future OS iterations..

Lastly is it just me or does constantly using a massive box to highlight what someone else said when referring to it, make it seem even more like a chirlish kind of gainsaying? I think most of us are aware of the live issues and would understand what is being referred to without them?

Well done tho to most for resisting the urge to make personal attacks.. Moderators wake up!?!

Very pleased with the video quality shown here by recordings made with the X10, would love to see some more stills and here the comments of users about the UI.. Especially in low-light because of the lack of Xenon flash.
